GoDaddy Opens Pre-Registration On 4 New TLDs, Including .Luxury At $1,200

Interested in one of the many new generic top-level domains that are coming online in the next couple years? Better get out your wallet or start saving now. If the prices that GoDaddy is asking for pre-registration on four new gTLDs is an indication of what’s to come, this is gonna be awfully expensive.
GoDaddy has announced that it’s taking pre-registrations for four new TLDs:

.uno
.menu
.build
.luxury

For each domain, GoDaddy is offering “pre-registration” or “priority pre-registration.” The latter is more expensive, and if there is more than registrant, GoDaddy will conduct an auction among the interested parties. Fees range from $40 for a .uno pre-registration up to $1,200 for the .luxury priority pre-registration. The .build domain has the least expensive priority pre-registration price at $190.
GoDaddy claims it’s the first registrar to “launch” the new gTLDs. That may be the case in terms of actually accepting money for pre-registrations but, as Domain Name Wire points out, other regi…

Amazon to Media Buyers: Don't Worry Your Pretty Heads | Ancient AOL-Ads-in-Email Settlement Finally Approved | Nigeria-based Group Lands Google, MSFT, Others to Push Cheap Access

Look! It’s a Data Center! It’s a Google Glass Store! It’s an ….. ‘Unprecedented artistic structure”

Sometimes it’s more fun to speculate about a mysterious structure as to what we want it to be but when it turns out to be something else all together the yawning begins.
Such is the case with the floating pile of shipping containers that has been speculated upon for weeks while floating in the San Francisco Bay. Was it the mysterious floating data center that had been patented by The Goog years ago? If so, how would they get Internet connectivity to and from it? Would there be balloons? Oh my! What are those crazy guys at Google up to?!?!?!
Turns out, not much, unless you think this is a satisfactory end game for the structure. SFGate.com reveals

The barge portion of the Google barge mystery is only half the story — when completed, the full package is envisioned to be an “unprecedented artistic structure,” sporting a dozen or so gigantic sails, to be moored for a month at a time at sites around the bay.
Documents submitted to the Port of San Francisco show that the barge’s creators have b…

The Most Powerful Indian Business Women Of 2013

Empowerment of Indian women is still a debatable issue in the country. At a time when only 26.6% of all Indian women above 25 are able to get secondary education and when Parliament has only 10% women representatives, it is hard to think about their role in the Indian business structure.
Since historical times, businesses in India have been a male dominated activity, with little or no role for women. But times are surely changing, and more and more women are actively joining business and entrepreneurial role.
Some of the major success stories scripted entirely by women in the last few decades include that of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad, a co-operative style business unit which did business worth Rs 600 crore in 2010, and employs over 42,000 women all over India. Then there is the story of Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw who founded India’s first biotech company: Biocon.
Fortune Magazine recently came up with a list of the most powerful Indian businesswomen, who have made a mark on the corpo…

Keep Out: Restricted Google+ Communities Help Keep Conversations Private

Like the functionality of Google+ communities, but don’t want to expose your content shared to the world? Well now Google’s got a solution for you: Restricted Google+ communities. Companies will now have the ability to create invite only communities or restricted communities that are open to those with email addresses specific to a domain name.

This is an ideal solution for internal teams or specific projects as users can share files directly from Google Drive. Community owners can manage membership, change settings or invite others. The default setting for restricted communities will default to your organization, but users can keep restricted if access should be limited to specific employees.

For more information see the official Google announcement.
