3 Reasons Every Entrepreneur Should Nurture Communities

An entrepreneur is often projected as a lone tiger, struggling against all odds and making the kill to become the king of the jungle.
Unfortunately, this is false projection of being an entrepreneur. Such lone tigers can no doubt become the king of his own jungle, but he won’t do any good to the overall eco-system and would not be able to start a revolution.

Here are the three reasons which convince us that every successful entrepreneur should nurture and grow communities:
The Secret Hiring Formula
80% of the entrepreneurs rely on external recruitment channels such as newspaper advertisements, hiring agencies and job portals. The people who are applying via such channels are complete strangers to that company, and the make-or-break decision happens within that interview.
There are 50-50 chances that the employee will meet the expectations or the company would be disappointed and the circle again starts. On the other hand, there are some smart entrepreneurs who create a community around the…

10 Habits Of The Highly Successful People

In the entire history, no other person has managed to have personified the notion of the self-made man more than Henry Ford. Henry Ford is best remembered as the one who single-handedly created the US automotive industry. What Ford had was only a limited formal education, born in a farm, and was expected to take over the farm when he grows up. Instead, Ford left home at the age of seventeen and joined as an […]

Report: Katie Couric Exits $40 Million Deal With ABC For Yahoo

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is raiding the world of traditional media to build a roster of top talent to add prestige and new (video) content to the Yahoo brand.
Roughly a month ago Mayer poached long-standing New York Times columnist David Pogue to help boost and build out new technology news coverage for the site. Now she’s landed a bigger fish: ABC’s Katie Couric. According to The Hollywood Report Couric is negotiating and end to her more than $40 million deal with the network that featured her on her own interview talk show and in occasional ABC news segments.
According to the publication Mayer personally recruited Couric, who will host her own news-interview show to be featured on the Yahoo homepage. Couric has had a presence on Yahoo already with a video program called “Katie’s Take,” which is mostly pre-recorded material from her ABC show.
Neither Couric, ABC nor Yahoo have formally confirmed the deal, whose details may not yet be final. Assuming it is, it’s a major coup for internet …

Skimlinks Launched Chrome Addon to Help Skimlinks Publishers

Skimlinks is one of the useful blog monetization network and a perfect alternative to Viglink. Earlier I have shared a detailed review of Viglink, and a case study to show how you can make money with non monetized outbound links. So far, I haven’t reviewed Skimlinks, but it’s equally good network as Viglink. Depending upon your blog niche, you should do a split test by trying both the network and find out which one works […]

Facebook’s Sandberg Says “The Majority Of US Teens Use Facebook Almost Every Day”

In an interview with Mike Isaac of AllThingsD.com, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg claimed the media over-reacted to Facebook CFO Ebersman’s comment during a recent earnings call when he mentioned the site was seeing a drop in daily usage among teens.
Sandberg told Isaac, “As we said on the earnings call, overall US teen usage of Facebook remains stable. The vast majority of US teens are on Facebook. And the majority of US teens use Facebook almost every day.”
Sandberg went on to say the challenge for Facebook is the fact they have been around for ten years now and are no longer the “shiny cool” thing. She said they’re not trying to be the coolest or newest, but the most useful.
Isaac asked the COO about the company’s recent attempt to acquire Snapchat. Sandberg avoided any direct comments about Facebook’s relationship with the growing social media platform and remained on message. “Social sharing, personal sharing, using your mobile device to share is exploding,” said Sandberg, “We and oth…

BI Report: Google Glass Will Sell 21 Million Units By 2018

Google Glass will become a mainstream product that sells almost a million units when it’s released next year, and grow to selling more than 21 million units by 2018. That’s according to a new Business Insider (BI) analyst report out this week.
“Despite the clunkiness and awkwardness of the early beta version of Glass, we think computerized glasses will establish themselves in certain professional niches and gradually become a mainstream product,” the report says. “Early adopters will use them for medical training, scientific exploration, and photography. They in turn will popularize Glass and other smart eyewear among wider populations still unsure about the appeal.”
BI says Glass sales will be spurred by lower prices over time (it expects the device to sell for about $600 in two years, and then fall from there), increased developer interest and public acceptance of things like looks, privacy and safety issues. All of that combines to produce sales estimates that look like this:

AOL's Plan to Bring Back Buggy Whips Delayed | Net Firms Protest Court's Pinning Liability for User Comments | Nielsen Owners Scramming

AOL Deathwatch: To great hullabaloo, AOL announced it was going to create a scad of new, live video content because, well, because perhaps previously the internet hadn't yet enjoyed the onerous limitations of timeslot programming, and AOL wished to fill that vacuum. Now that Mad Hatter class strategy appears to be in a bit of disarray [...]
