Google Gives Yellow Card to Guest Bloggers | Broad Match May be Under-Appreciated | Newspapers Weigh Social Vs. Getting Paid | New Mobile ESP

Search: Because "broad match" keywords are counted separately, and don't affect quality scores for campaigns generally, they are currently under-utilized. That said, they still tend to be more expensive on a cost per action basis. Google's chief of spam gave a yellow card to guest bloggers, observing that much of the guest posts appear to be getting [...]

Photos Now in Twitter Direct Messages

Let’s face it. Life will never be the same.
Twitter is now letting pictures in direct messages. What else is there to say. It’s simply amazing and I know most of us will never be the same.
Too much? Sorry. Despite my over the top ‘reaction’ Twitter has really gone and done this as well letting users swipe between timelines. I am getting goose bumps.
From the Twitter blog

For the first time, you can share and view photos via direct message (DM) on your mobile phone. We’ve also introduced a new tab in the navigation bar that makes it easy to access DMs –– they’re just one tap away from wherever you are on Twitter. You can also view photos in DMs on

It looks like this

Stunning. I am speechless. I bet that makes you happy .

GOSF 2013 Analysis: Some Good, Some Bad, Some Crappy

The 2nd installment of Google’s Great Online Shopping Festival is here – Rather than a single day like last year, this year has been converted into 3 day shopping event. We will bring you all the highlights of the event, along with all the deals that you should never miss. The article will be updated with more news.
Rough Start
The 2013 GOSF extravaganza had a rough start and we were quite surprised at that. Generally, a Google backed event rarely has infrastructure or technical issue, but the start of festival was marred with that. We logged on to the site at exactly Midnight to check what #GOSF had on offer, and to my surprise, the site gave “server 500 error”. The error lasted for about half an hour, after which the previous “pre-launch” page was put up. Funnily it said, –1 days to go for festival.
See the screenshot below:

Though many believed it was traffic spike that bought the site down, we think it was a configuration issue with migration from “pre-launch” to “post-launch” GOSF pa…

Facebook Tempts User Rage with Video Autoplay | Disqus Temps FTC Rage with Sponsored Comments | Google: Our Ads Are All the Rage, Have Some Pass-Through Data

No Monetization For You! YouTube Goes on an Infringement Claim Rampage

I don’t post a lot of videos to YouTube but what I do post is almost always related to TV. I post videos of TV show swag, clips of actors at conventions and sometimes I post DVD or website reviews. I don’t use unauthorized clips, photos or music. I monetize my videos like any good marketer should and I’ve never had a problem.
Until now.
Last week I got this email:

We have not been able to confirm your commercial use rights to all the elements of your video.
We may consider your video(s) for further review provided you verify that you are authorized to commercially use all of the elements of your content. This includes all video, images, music, video game footage, and any other audio or visual elements. Learn more
Please note that YouTube reserves the right to make the final decision whether to monetize a video, and we may disable monetization for partners who repeatedly submit ineligible videos. All videos are subject to our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and may be removed fro…

How to Resize Windows on your Mac to Specific Sizes

One of my favorite Windows utility happens to be Sizer, a tiny app that can resize any window on the desktop to an exact size. For instance, when I am recording screencasts for the YouTube channel, I use the 1280×720 (HD) or 1920×1080 (1080p) preset to automatically resize the target window before hitting the Record button.
Surprisingly, there’s no Sizer like app available for the Mac platform.

Resize any window to a specified size with Apple Script

I did find some paid alternatives in the Mac App store – Mercury Mover, TileWindows and Divvy to name a few – that do allow you to reposition and resize windows on the Mac with keyboard shortcuts but these apps are more targeted at power users for working efficiently with multiple windows while Sizer is purely a resizing utility.
Resize Windows with Apple Script
If you are looking for something more simple, without the extra bells and whistles, a little AppleScript should do the trick.
Just open the AppleScript editor and copy-paste the script b…

Oreo Cookie Balls: The Next Viral Christmas Video?

Oreo began the year with a viral tweet during the Super Bowl, and the cookie-maker seems to be hoping to end the year with another touchdown — this one in the form of a new video that’s gaining steam on YouTube and social networks.
It’s called “Oreo Cookie Balls,” and the 76-second video seems to have everything it takes to go viral this Christmas: a catchy tune, funny lyrics and — this is important for the sake of virality, folks — several just-risqué-enough references to cookie balls. The video also manages to include several ideas for eating and serving cookie balls, which is kinda smart since this isn’t an actual product you can buy on the shelf at your local grocery store. (You gotta make them from a recipe.)
Have a look for yourself (and just try not to start singing along with that chorus):

Oreo actually tweeted the video way back on Wednesday morning, which is like an eternity in viral video years. (Unruly says that 25 percent of shares usually happen in the first three days foll…
