Will Social Video Ads Change TV Advertising?

Much has been written about Facebook’s new video product, which is currently being tested by Summit Entertainment and Mindshare in the US.
Much of the commentary has been around how much it will cost, whether it will affect users, data plans, and what its impact will be on Facebook’s future profitability. But one area that has yet to be highly discussed is what it might do to the traditional TV spot.

Many companies have set their sights on unseating TV’s position as the largest recipient of ad budgets in most major markets; but, Facebook’s new video product is, in some ways, an acceptance that TV is still going to play a central role in many campaigns for some time to come. Advertisers understand how TV ads/video can affect consumer choices, and there are still few things that have as much impact as the mix of sight, sound and motion that video or TV ads bring.
The new Facebook format, as it currently stands, mimics the integration of video into Instagram; videos start playing automatica…

Intel Edison: A SD Card Sized Full Pentium-Class PC For Wearable Computing!

Intel is on a downward spiral and it is no secret. Time will tell whether it will take a couple of years or a decade for the profits to turn to losses. However, Intel is in no mood to stay that way. While the era of mobiles have reduced the value of Intel Processors over time, the company is constantly working on finding a footing in the arena.
Unfortunately, Intel has yet to make a dent in the mobile segment where ARM is the king and companies like Qualcomm and Samsung have shifted to ARM philosophy.
Intel’s mobile processors have been found lacking and with so many companies making processors, it is a hard climb for Intel.
Intel Edison seems to skip the smartphones altogether. The Quark SOC that was unveiled at IDF is now taking a shape of Intel Edison, a PC the size of an SD card.

The biggest point in favor of Intel Edison is that being equipped with Bluetooth and WiFi, this is a full-fledged computer and doesn’t need an outer source for processing- an outer source like a smartphone.

How to get Direct Link URL to Facebook Wall Post or Status

Dear Blogsolute,
How can we get exact link (URL) of a share-post of an article ON OUR WALL, which we shared from another media like online news paper etc. I’ll clarify more. Suppose, I shared a news link of Times of India on my Facebook wall (with my own comments).
Then, I want my friends to come to my wall and read/comment/like on it. But when I’m trying to extract the link (URL), I’m getting the link of that original media’s news link and not the link directed to my Facebook wall. I want my friends to be directed to MY FACEBOOK WALL POST ONLY, NOT TO TIMES OF INDIA’S NEWS LINK.
Sincerely,

Christo Chandy

Dear Christo,
I understand your problem and it is evident because Facebook hasn’t given any such option directly. Fortunately, it is not difficult to get permanent link to any Facebook post whether on your wall or posted by someone else.
All you have to do is get the link of Time stamp of that post.

By time stamp, I am referring to Date and time of that post. Just right click and ‘Copy Link …

Report: Twitter Use Among African Americans Age 18 To 29 Climbs To 40%

A recent report from Pew Research Center revealed high Twitter usage among young African Americans, with 40 percent of 18 – 29 year old African American internet users on Twitter compared to 28 percent of whites in the same age group.
According to Pew, general adoption of social media sites is nearly equal for both African American internet users (73%) and white internet users (72%), but African Americans have higher rates of Twitter usage compared to whites. Pew found that 22 percent of all African American internet users are on Twitter, while only 16 percent of all white Internet users.
The gap between African Americans and whites on Twitter doubles when measuring Twitter use among 18 to 29 year olds. For everyone 30 years and older, Twitter usage among the two groups levels out to relatively the same percentage of users.

Pew’s research for its African Americans and Technology Use report is based on a telephone survey of 6,010 American adults, and was conducted July 18 through Septembe…

Deal Seeker Study Says Too Many Discounts Can Be Bad for Business

“Would you like 20% off your order today?”
“No, thank you. I’d rather pay full price.”
Sounds silly when you say it that way, but as Experian points out in their new study, a good deal can sometimes be a bad thing.
There are two major issues – first is the perpetual deal. Deal days like Black Friday aren’t special anymore, which leaves consumers worried that tomorrow’s deal might be better than today’s deal, so they hold off buying.
Then there’s the point of sale deal – “these are buy one, get one 50% off. Do you want to go back and get another?” Sure I do, but I was ready to check out and go and now I have to get out of line and start over because I feel stupid leaving a deal on the table. Thanks retailer – your deal just made me feel bad.
And Barnes & Noble, I dread your check-out line because I know the salesperson is going to ask if I want to join your club. Yes, I know I’ll save money on every transaction but when you ask and I say no, I feel bad. Bad enough to avoid shopping in y…
