Traffic Fraud: The IAB, a trade group of sites, tech firms and networks that often wind up unknowingly selling fraudulent web traffic, is pushing guidelines for avoiding traffic fraud. The easiest way, of course, is to go buy some cost-per-action deals, or (heaven forbid) some traditional media. Barring that, the IAB has some advice that will [...]

Allow or Block any Program from Windows Firewall with Right Click Menu

Firewall acts a barrier between computer system and Internet connection. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to add or remove some program from Firewall rules list. These rules state if certain program is allowed to make communication or access Network connection.
Sometimes, Firewall may mistakenly block some genuine software program but you want to allow it. In other scenario, it is possible that you want to block or restrict some program’s access because you think it is malicious.
In both cases, one has to add a rule manually to Firewall and that is not easy for everyone. We, at Blogsolute strives to make things easier and accomplish them in smarter way.
Here, I present a small tool which can add or block any program to Windows firewall from right click menu of that program.

Download Allow Bock Right Click Menu Tool
Extract the archive and open Right_Click_Options.exe and click on “Add Right Click Menu”.

From now on, there will be a new option whenever you right click on an executable file (…

Facebook Q4 Results Beats Market Expectations; Mobile Ad Revenues Surge!

Facebook has just released its Q4 2013 results, and going by the numbers, it’s excellent. In fact, this was the first billion dollar mobile ad revenue quarter as Facebook generated staggering $1.25 billion from mobile ads. Overall, revenues have beaten market expectations and the stock market has reacted positively to the results.
The single biggest positive factor which was witnessed in the earnings report was the fact that now, 53% of Facebook’s revenues is coming from mobile advertisements. At the start of the year, Mark Zuckerberg had said they are looking forward at growing revenues from mobile platform, and the gamble has paid off.
When Facebook’s IPO was launched in May, 2012, mobile revenues stood at zero. But within 19 months, Facebook has tremendously improved their mobile offerings as advertisers are now ready to spend on the platform.
While releasing the report, Mark said, “If 2012 was the year where we turned our core product into a mobile product, then 2013 was the year whe…

Google Finally Bites The Bullet; Sells Motorola To Lenovo for $2.91 Billion

In the year 2012, Google had bought Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, which it sold yesterday to Lenovo for $2.91, thereby generating a direct loss of $9.59 billion, if we exclude the inflation and other associated costs. Google had to bite this bullet, as ever since this acquisition happened, it was weighing in on their balance sheet and profitability.
Motorola had been bleeding Google badly; some estimates put the loss at $1 billion every year. Google has already lost $2 billion since this acquisition and trimmed the Motorola workforce from 20,000 to 3,800.

Larry Page announced this deal via this blog yesterday as he said, “We’ve just signed an agreement to sell Motorola to Lenovo for $2.91 billion,” adding, “I’m phenomenally impressed with everything the Motorola team has achieved and confident that with Lenovo as a partner, Motorola will build more and more great products for people everywhere.”
Out of $2.91 billion, $1.41 billion would be paid at the close of the deal; $660 milli…

Flipkart Offers Rival Myntra To Merge?

The rumours are flying thick and fast in regards to Flipkart and Myntra merger. Most major media publications, including Times of India is reporting that Flipkart has approached Myntra with the merger offer citing sources directly related to the deal.
This news comes close to heels of rumored $50 million investment by Premji Invest. As we reported yesterday, Myntra was reconsidering the deal, as they may been approached with some better offer. Probably, the Flipkart’s offer must be it!
Whatever said and done, these are currently at rumours stage and both the sides have not given any inkling about it.

But if you talk about synergies, definitely the merger looks good on paper. The biggest factor in this rumored merger are the two common investors in Myntra and Flipkart; Tiger Global and Accel Partners. Both the investors combined own 53 percent in Myntra and around 40% in Flipkart.
Flipkart has been eyeing private label acquisitions like Zovi and YepMe for quite some time now. Apparel is a …

Facebook iPhone Update Includes Option to Hide Posts

In the US, 78.9% of Facebook’s daily users access the site via a mobile device – and Facebook just gave a lot of them a way to easily hide your posts.
(Forgive me Regal, this was only a test.)
The “What’s New in Version 6.9.1″ notes on today’s updates says you can now “Choose whose posts you see in News Feed.” We’ve had this ability on the web for awhile but I guess it wasn’t available on the app until now. I didn’t notice, mostly because I rarely bother “hiding” posts.
When you click the little arrow on a post you can choose “I don’t want to see this.” And if you don’t understand that, Facebook includes an explanation below the prompt: “Hide this post from News Feed.”
You can also choose to Unfollow. Facebook also clarifies this option with “You won’t see posts from (INSERT NAME).
If someone you follow shares a post from someone else, the dropdown includes a third choice to hide all posts from that third party. Now that’s useful if you have a friend who insists on passing along every post…
