WTF Is A Cookie, Anyway? Do You Really Know, Or Just Think You Do?

This month’s column was inspired by a very brave CMO who bluntly asked, during a recent conversation, “WTF is a cookie, anyway?” This particular gent is smart — he controls a marketing budget of over $30m a year, a reasonable enough portion of which is digital.
His question stems from the many ways our industry talks about cookies (often incorrectly) and the peripheral terms than have become synonymous — RTB, big data, programmatic, pixel… He thought he used to know the answer to his own question, but found that he actually didn’t. And interestingly, the answers his team gave from around the room were inconsistent with each other….

Remember NeoNurture? A quick recap, the “Car Parts Incubator” created for the people who coudn’t afford the traditional one. Developed by a group of team of awesome people named Design That Matters, they inspired an interesting thought and led by example by building an incubator from automobile spare parts which are abundant in the developing countries. They inspired several students from Stanford University who took up the job to build something that’s better.
The EXTREME (design for extreme affordability) folks built an incubator that’s cheaper, portable and can be used in clinical setting as well as in a community setting. The product is aptly named as Embrace Infant Warmer, an innovative, low cost infant warmer for vulnerable new born babies in developing countries. It puts in use a phase change material to supply the heat to the bag which slowly releases the warmth to the baby over a span of 6 hours.

New Rules Make It Tougher To Get PAN Card! What You Need To Know…

Getting a new PAN card (Permanent Account Number) will be tougher from February 3rd, 2014 as there are new rules that need to be adhered to. The decision has been taken to combat the increasing number of fake cases of PAN card being discovered.

What is a PAN card & why is it necessary?
PAN card is a unique alphanumeric combination issued in the form of a laminated card.

Samsung Beats Nokia To Become India’s Most Trusted Brand in 2014

According to a new study by Brand Trust Report, India Study 2014 (BRT 2014), it has been found that Samsung is the most trusted brand in India right now. Last year, Nokia held #1 position but it has since slipped down to 5th position.
In number 2 position is Sony, followed by Tata. Last year, Samsung was at #2, Sony was third and Tata was ranked 5th in overall brand trust all over India.

Brand Trust Report is created by a company called Trust Research Advisory, which uses its proprietary 61-attribute Trust Matrix to determine which is the most trusted brand in the country.
For the last year’s survey, they had surveyed 2505 influencers from 16 Indian cities generating 3 million datapoints. As per the website, they had identified more than 19000 brands, spread across 200+ categories to come up with top 1200 brands in India.
This year marks their 4th such report, after ranking the brands in 2011, 2012 and 2013. For this year’s research, Trust Research Advisory has put in 15000 hours of field…
