Facebook CPMs Take Off | B2B Not Dead Yet | Amazon Uses Unsold Avails to Prod Developers

Media: Facebook's prices are rapidly rising, with CPMs more than tripling year-on-year. In Q2 the price for a thousand appearances on the right rail of Facebook was $1.95. In the same period, click rates rose almost as much, more than doubling. Demand trebled when Facebook broke marketers' expectations by removing most of their organic traffic a [...]

Twitter A-Listers Are More Likely To Have Their Tweets Indexed In Google Search Results [Study]

If you are counting on Google indexing your tweets, you had better have Twitter influence — we are talking serious influence. As in, if you have fewer than a million followers, your tweet isn’t likely to surface on a Google search at all.
That’s one of the key findings of a study that Stone Temple Consulting released today. After analyzing the last 20 tweets for 963 Twitter accounts, it found that tweets by accounts with one million+ followers were indexed at least 30% of the time. There were 58 of those in the sample, including nine with 3 to 5 million followers and 26 with more than 5 million. Not surprisingly, the greater number of followers the higher percentage of indexing. Here how it looks:

As you can see in the chart, accounts with fewer than 10,000 followers barely budged the needle.
Also interesting to note: the tweets that were indexed were not indexed very quickly. “Even for accounts with more than 5 million followers, only six percent of tweets are indexed within the first 2…

Report: Social Sharing On Mobile Devices Surges 30% In Second Quarter

Adding to the evidence that 2014 is a mobile tipping point, social data and sharing tool provider ShareThis reported today that sharing via smartphones and tablets surged more than 30% during the second quarter.
Pulling data from its network of more than 2 million U.S. publishers, ShareThis found sharing growth of 27.8% for smartphones and 3.5% for tablets when compared to the first quarter. The ShareThis figures for desktop sharing dropped 5.5 in Q2.
Although ShareThis didn’t provide aggregate figures for device sharing, its growth numbers report coupled with last month’s comScore estimate that 60% of all digital media time was spent on mobile devices in May (up from 50% last year), is a clear indication that mobile has momentum.

That mobile growth is good news for Pinterest and Twitter. According to the ShareThis data, 75% of pins and 71% of tweets come from smartphones and tablets. The breakdown is 63% smartphone to 8% tablet for Twitter and 52% smartphone to 23% tablet for Pinterest.…

Pinterest Updates Follow Button To Preview Brands’ Latest Pins

Pinterest rolled out a new Follow button today that gives users a visual sample of what following a brand or business will mean.
Users who click on the button will see a dialogue box with previews of an account’s latest pins, “and your visitors won’t ever have to leave your website to follow you,” Pinterest product manager Jason Costa wrote in a blog post. “Once someone follows your account, they’ll start seeing your Pins in their home feed.”
It’s another smart move by Pinterest, which is working to turn its popular image-based social network into a money maker. It’s cautiously moving into advertising, last month rolling out a self-serve dashboard to allow select advertisers to buy Promoted Pins.
Its 60 million monthly visitors (according to comScore) already show great affinity for pinning products and the new follow button — which is a free widget and doesn’t require updating on websites that had the old button — could serve as subtle reminder of that fact to businesses and brands.

Google AdWords changed terminology within its interface that replaces most instances of the word "delete" with "remove," as in advertisers will remove campaigns, not delete them. Google said it will help people remember items are not gone forever.
