David Letterman (Sort Of), Justin Bieber (Kinda), Renee Zellweger (Perhaps) Endorse Amazon (Advertising)

In a brilliant celebration of mistaken identity, Amazon Advertising, a San Francisco-based ad agency with no affiliation to Amazon the online retail giant, has launched the Mistaken Identity Project, a social-focused, self-promotional campaign aimed at having a bit of fun with mistaken identity.
Amazon Advertising began around the time the more familiar Amazon was launched. The agency had big brand clients such as Kashi and Bear Naked. Over the years, the agency has received its fair share of mistaken calls from those who believe they are reaching out to the other Amazon about an order they recently made.
Having a good old time with this ongoing saga, the agency filmed a group of regular people with well-known names. We hear from Renee Zellweger, Justin Bieber, David Letterman and, on the Mistaken Identity Project site, Alice Cooper and Jon Stewart. Twitter Puts A Hit On Companies Attempting To Provide User-Base Stats

Fact: This year Twitter stock (TWTR) took a dive from nearly $70 a share down to just over $30 a share due in part to Q1 reports that the overall monthly users were slowing. According to Business Insider, Twitter has now begun shutting off data to companies that publish their own content on the size of the overall Twitter user-base.

One developer told BI that “They shut me down last Friday night after the market closed,” and another, Twopcharts, has the above image boldly on their homepage.
There are a few theories on why this API access is being cut down for these developers. The first is that the overall engagement and user base is in-fact shrinking and driving down investor confidence. Twitter Bets Big On World Cup, Scores With Engagement Records

Like Germany’s national soccer team, Twitter entered the 2014 World Cup with the highest of expectations. Germany, extremely talented but searching for its first major title for 18 years, passed its test in the biggest way with a 1-0 victory over Argentina in Sunday’s championship match.
Twitter? Not too shabby either, although the game is far from over for the social media network.
Twitter put heavy emphasis on the World Cup, hoping that the world’s most popular sporting event would help it attract enough active user growth to meet Wall Street expectations.
It riddled the new user on-boarding process with prompts to follow players, teams, journalists and other soccer sources. It added “hashflags” icons to enable people to visually support their favorite national squads. Facebook Vs. YouTube: Which Site Has More U.S. Visitors?

Measuring Internet traffic is a notoriously slippery science. So when I read a headline that YouTube has passed Facebook as the largest social network in the United States, I took it with a dose of skepticism.
Then I checked it out. And while time didn’t permit a definitive study, I can report that the unique visitor battle between Facebook and YouTube is far from settled. Yes, they each report more than 1 billion active users globally. But who the leader is domestically depends on whose data you query.

Is Facebook faking friend Likes to increase your interaction with brands?

OK, put on your tin foil hat with me, this is a total conspiracy theory, but…
Facebook just showed me a post that it claimed 3 of my closest friends (actually my wife, sister, and good friend) had Liked:

Now, I know for a fact that they did not Like this post. Heck, they don’t even know about this brand.
So, my question is this: is this a sleazy effort by Facebook to encourage me to Like a post, or is this just a bug–which conveniently benefits Facebook anyway?
