Google My Business App Gains Review Alerts, Ability To Respond To Reviews

A variation on the old saying, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach,” the way to a small business’ (SMB’s) marketing budget may be through its smartphone. Vendors of local marketing services are increasingly realizing the most effective way to reach and retain busy SMBs is by leveraging their mobile devices.
Accordingly Google is beefing up its smartphone apps for SMBs: Google My Business and AdWords Express. Chief among the improvements is the ability to receive real-time alerts for Google reviews and the ability to respond through the app:

Apple’s iAd Makes Biggest Expansion Yet, Now Available In 95 Countries

Apple announced on Tuesday that it’s mobile in-app ad platform, iAd, is now available in 70 more countries. The big expansion brings the total number of countries to 95 across the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
Earlier this month, Apple had expanded to 25 countries by adding Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and Sweden.
Along with the global growth, Apple has been making product enhancements after opening up the platform to a wider range of businesses and app developers in April. New pre-roll video and full-screen interstitial banner ads formats came out in August, andcross-device retargeting was announced this month.
The iAd producer tool, introduced in September was launched to make rich-media ad creation easier for non-developers.

1 Billion A Month? That’s Even Better As Facebook Beats Market Expectations Again

Facebook passed the $1 billion a month in revenue barrier in the third quarter, reporting $3.2 billion for the three months ending in September and beating Wall Street expectations for the 10th consecutive quarter.
The great majority of that revenue came from advertising, with the company reporting $2.96 billion in ad revenue, a 64% increase from the third quarter last year and a 10.4% increase over last quarter’s $2.68 billion. Mobile ad revenue made up 66% of the total, an increase of 4
The company also reported earnings per share of 43 cents, beating stock analysts’ expectations of 40 cents. Analysts had expected the company to report $3.1 billion in revenue.
Facebook stock, which closed at $80.77, was holding steady in early after-hours trading, down less than one percent when this post was published.

PunchTab Survey Says 90% Of Consumers Will Shop Online This Holiday Season

Many are predicting strong online retail sales this holiday season. Earlier this month, the National Retail Federation released a study claiming 56 percent of shoppers plan to buy online – a 51 percent increase over last year, and a record high according to the NRF.
PunchTab, an analytics resource provider for brands and retailers, is claiming an even more aggressive outlook. Surveying over 1,000 U.S. consumers last month, PunchTab found 90 percent of its survey participants were planning to shop online for the holidays.
Grouping survey responses by generation, PunchTab’s findings showed Millennials plan on doing the most online shopping, with 58 percent planning to buy gifts online.
