You can now Pair an Android Wear Smartwatch to your iPhone

When you think of Android, the word ‘iPhone’ comes to mind only like an antonym, but Google wants it to be a synonym, at least when it comes to its Android Wear product. Google has now announced iOS support to its smartwatch platform by launching the official Android Wear mobile app in Apple’s App Store.

What better way to compete with the Apple Watch than to make the iPhone compatible with Android Wear smartwatches? Rolling out today on iTunes, the app will work with the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, or 6 Plus running at least iOS 8.2. David Singleton, Director of Engineering, Android Wear, said the following regarding the release: When you wear something every day, you want to be sure it really works for you. That’s why Android Wear offers countless design choices, so you can find the watch that fits your style. Want a round watch with a more classic look? Feel like a new watch band? How about changing things up every day with watch faces from artists and designers? With Android Wear you can…

Wearables Game Changer: Android Wear Now Compatible With iPhone

Google just changed the rules for wearables. It has introduced Android Wear for iOS.The caveat is that right now it’s only available for one smartwatch, the LG Urbane. However Google said, “All future Android Wear watches, including those from Huawei, Asus, and Motorola will also support iOS, so stay tuned for more.”The Apple Watch has been well received and sold several million units. According to IDC it’s now the second most popular wearable after the Fitbit. Android Wear has not performed as well. This move is sure to expand its appeal. It will also be welcome news for iPhone owners who aren’t ready to buy an Apple Watch or don’t like the single design. There are numerous Android Wear OEMs and a host of styles to choose from. Most Android smartwatches are also less expensive than the most basic Apple Watch. This is both smart and necessary for Google. It would also be smart for Apple to consider something similar for Android smartphone owners or at least make the Apple Watch a stand-…

Online and Offline Methods to Reduce PDF File Size

PDFs have been one of the most preferred document format from quite some time. Thanks to Kindle and other e-book readers, text books can be easily converted into PDFs. However, the issue here is the fact that Kindle comes with a rather limited memory and this bottleneck will come in your way if you try to squeeze in many files. Thankfully PDF can be optimized and compressed so that it wont leech on our precious memory space. Before we start listing out the ways to make a PDF smaller, we would like to address one of the larger concerns here. Many academicians and researchers are shying away from online PDF tools wary of the chances that the files might be stored in the server while being converted. If the file is indexed in any of the sites, it will be flagged down under plagiarism. If your PDF file contains precious information, we would suggest you to go for an offline tool which would not require the users to upload the files on the servers. We have curated the tools categorically un…

In many organizations, the line between sales and marketing staff is solidly drawn. Marketing teams take care of getting the word out about a business’ products or services, while sales teams pitch customers directly. Marketing teams can learn from the daily drive that sales teams have to perform. Here are a few lessons marketers can take from sales as they strive to be more successful.1. Re-evaluate GoalsMarketing teams generally operate using goals, while sales teams are held to quotas. The difference is in the accountability team members have in reaching their numbers each month.A goal in this context is usually something team members hope to achie…

How To Banish Bad Bots From Your Site Analytics

Many marketers have a vague awareness about server Log Files, but few know that they can be used to clean up the analytics data you’re using to make decisions about your site. You can do that by using them to identify bad bots, which, more and more, are executing JavaScript, inflating analytics numbers, expending your resources and scraping and duplicating content. The Incapsula 2014 bot traffic report looked at 20,000 websites (of all sizes) over a 90-day period and found that bots account for 56% of all website traffic; 29% were malicious in nature.Additional insight showed the more you build your brand, the larger a target you become. There are services available that automate much more advanced techniques than what I discuss in the full article on Search Engine Land, but the column is a starting point to understand the basics and clean up your reports using Excel. Check out the full article on our sister site.

3 Steps To Better Holiday Insights With Cohort Analysis

Holiday planning season is in full swing, which brings up some big questions around customer retention. How do holiday customers compare with your core customer base? Are they more likely to be “one-and-done,” or do they make more repeat purchases? Are they fading away faster or slower?Cohort analysis is one of the most powerful tools available to marketers for assessing long-term trends in customer retention. It’s particularly useful when taking a look at holiday customers and trying to better understand their behavior (and value) over time. What Is Cohort Analysis?A cohort is a group of customers who all performed an action at the same time. Whether that means everyone who made a first purchase in the same month or everyone who subscribed to your email list in the same week, a cohort will be a group of similar individuals, with membership criteria defined as needed. The idea of cohort analysis is to follow this group of customers and watch how their behavior changes over time.Accordin…

5 Best iPhone and iPad Apps : August Week 4

Well, we’re fast approaching the iPhone launch month. The event is set for September 9th and I’m sure you can hardly wait. Think of it as any other week, a week filled with awesome apps. This week we bring back you a pixelated fury of nostalgia while simultaneously providing you tools to calm you down.1. PAC-MAN 256Depending on how old you are, you probably have fond memories of playing PAC-MAN either in an arcade for a quarter for a game or on a console or on your very own PC. There’s not much to say about PAC-MAN, it’s legendary. Now though, the formula has been translated to the touchscreen and because of the times we live in – PAC-MAN 256 is an endless runner. But before you judge, that’s not such a bad thing. You swipe up, down or to the sides to navigate Pac Man. If you get killed, that’s it. Your aim is to survive for as long as possible and get the highest score. While it’s fun to play the game on the iPad, I’m not the biggest fan of the control system. I missed turns multiple ti…

Android Powered Blackberry Venice Live Photos Surface, Expected to Feature 18-Megapixel OIS Camera Unit

Blackberry has been frantically trying to (re-)mark its presence in the smartphone market and attempts like the Blackberry Passport has been one of the step in this. The rumor mills, supported by several leaks pointed out at a Blackberry phone powered completely by Android. The smartphone codenamed Blackberry Venice has finally surfaced in the form of live pictures and the device in question is apparently a fully functional unit being checked out by the blokes at Techrum. The Blackberry Venice offers both a trademark physical Qwerty keypad and a more convenient On-Screen keypad. The power button has been thankfully displaced from the top to the left side, just like most of the other smartphones. The most interesting aspect is the slider type formfactor which requires users to push the screen outwards in order to reveal the physical keyboard.Blackberry Venice doesn’t look compact and if we go by the photos, it seems to be bulky and tall. The SIM and the Micro SD slots have been relocate…
