Huawei Brings Honor 4C and Honor Bee Smartphones to India, Aggressively Priced at Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 4,999

The booming mobile Indian market is one of the most appealing targets for Chinese OEMs and just today we’ve reported about a new one joining the race. Everybody seems to be aiming for the low-end segment of the market, which seems to be the fastest rising one. And Huawei believes it can cut itself a piece of this gigantic pie with help from its Honor brand.Huawe has announced today two new smartphones – the Honor 4C and Honor Bee, as well as the AP007 Power Bank. To remind you, Huawei’s products under the Honor brand are being sold exclusively through e-retail channels, so don’t expect these to pop out at a retail store nearby. The Honor 4C seems to be the best smartphone out of these two, being price at Rs.8,999. Let’s see what does it come with:5-inch HD IPS Display with a 1280×720 resolution13 megapixel rear camera with Smart Image 2.5 technology, 5 megapixel front camera2GB RAM and a Hi-Silicon octa-core processor8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and dual-SIM2550 mAh ba…

Smartphone Share Stabilizes In US, Competitive Only At Margins

The US smartphone market seems to have reached a kind of homeostatic equilibrium. According to many months of comScore data, Android hovers at around 52 percent penetration, while the iPhone has a 42 percent share.Windows Phones own just over 3 percent of the market and “other” is just under 2 percent. It seems unlikely that Windows will make further gains in the absence of a significant breakthrough of some kind. And BlackBerry continues its painful slide into the abyss. Absent radical developments, platform loyalty is such that only a small percentage of users appear to be up for grabs, although there is some switching between Android and iPhone and vice versa. Where there’s some marginal competitive volatility is among Android handset makers, though Samsung continues to dominate that group.Operating system market share doesn’t tell the whole story however. For example, email platform provider Movable Ink has data that now show 67 of emails are opened on mobile devices. But Android …

Website Taxonomy Guidelines And Tips: How Best To Organize Your Site

Let’s play a word association game. Before we begin, clear your thoughts. Try to stay focused on this game only. Are you ready? What comes to mind when I say and write the word taxonomy? As mental models differ from person to person, I am reasonably sure that I will get many different answers. Information architects have word and image associations with the word taxonomy that others might not have. Computer programmers and Web developers might have different image and word associations than others. And some people, if I were able to see their facial expressions, seem confused. They might not use this word in their daily work and personal lives. With so many potential personal definitions of taxonomy it’s no wonder there’s confusion on how it applies to Web design. That’s why I’ll be walking through the concept and how Web professionals should apply it, in this column.Though a commercial Web search engine is not a human being, and thus, does not have a personal mental model, we can see how…

Marketing’s New Customer Nerve Center: Marketing Operations

Previously, marketing operations was the “island of misfit toys,” as described by Sirius Decisions’ Craig Moore at the Marketing Operations Executive Summit last year. But with roots in strategic planning and budgeting, this department is increasingly focused on customer acquisition — and it’s becoming the marketing nerve center to drive marketing and customer technology systems and processes. The need for and explosion of data we’re experiencing in marketing is a primary driver of the ascension and evolution of marketing ops. This is being further fueled as marketing brands bring ad and marketing technology in-house to both get their hands on and own valuable customer and marketing data.Considering that 59 percent of CMOs who integrate a technology strategy within their overall marketing strategy have reported more targeted, efficient and relevant customer engagements, all eyes are on marketing ops to provide the tools, analytics, processes and metrics that often determine marketing’s…

Retailer Mobile Strategies Start With Driving In-Store Sales

Despite the onslaught of e-commerce options, the bulk of consumer retail transactions still occurs in physical stores. As a result, retail marketing teams tasked with revenue generation still find the greatest success by focusing on driving in-store sales as the foundation from which all other marketing platforms flow. This means leveraging multiple consumer touch points for a unified initiative — whether through mobile, online, email campaigns, radio, TV, billboards, direct mail, you name it. In turn, this holistic strategy should utilize existing digital assets across all marketing elements for maximum value.Mobile plays an especially critical role in driving in-store sales, as consumers are using their phones all day to help inform their decisions. However, many marketing organizations struggle with the disruptive nature of mobile and how to validate their efforts due to evolving benchmarks and little precedent. After all, the iPhone, even with its mass adoption driving much of the l…

Email Segmentation, Personalization, Automation: Getting Important Data Into Your ESP

As an email marketing consultant, I frequently talk to marketers about the benefits of segmentation, personalized content and automation. Marketers are generally in favor of all these things and usually agree with most of my recommendations. However, when it comes to implementation, we frequently run into the issue of how to get the required data into their email platform. This issue doesn’t just come up once in a while; it comes up all the time. So, I want to discuss the types of data that you should be uploading into your email service provider (ESP), how this data can be used to enhance the relevance of your emails, and finally, how to get that data into your ESP.Useful Types Of DataDemographic
This is your basic A/S/L (age, sex, location) data that you might collect from subscribers when they sign up or make a purchase. This type of data generally doesn’t change very often; people don’t change their name, gender or location too often (although all of those things could change), whi…

Coolpad is the Latest Chinese Smartphone OEM to Step into Indian Shores

You probably didn’t hear too many things about Coolpad, but neither did we. Oh, maybe expect for the fact that Micromax’s first Yu smartphone has been strongly suspected to be a rebranded smartphone made by the aforementioned company. Anyway, we could soon start hearing more news regarding Coolpad, as the company has now made official its debut in India. We’ve already lost count of how many new Chinese companies are entering the Indian market, but it’s no wonder, as the country is somewhat close to China and India is also the world’s third largest and the fastest growing smartphone market. And even if Coolpad doesn’t ring a bell, you should know that this company was once the biggest smartphone vendor in China, but it didn’t manage to keep up with the strong and mature competition coming from other companies.Coolpad is apparently serious regarding its operations in India as it has hired Varun Sharma to head its India operations (the former director of strategic alliances at Flipkart) a…

BlackBerry’s Virtual SIM Brings 9 Numbers on a Single SIM Card, Comes to India this Year

BlackBerry is still trying to increase sales numbers for its handsets, but earnings reports pointed out that the lion’s share of their revenue actually comes from their services division. This, among other things, has prompted the company to restructure itself as an enterprise and security company, and chances are that they’ll be able to bring profits back with this new strategy.BlackBerry said that’s currently in talks with regulatory authorities and telecom operators in India to launch its virtual SIM solution by the end of this year. The Virtual SIM Provisioning (VSP) is a virtual identity solution for mobile operators which enables multiple numbers to be active on a single device or SIM card. And now BlackBerry is interesting in bringing this technology on Indian soil be the end of this year. Managing Director Sunil Lalvani said the following:We are seeking clearance from regulatory authorities. We are also conducting pilots for the solution with operators here. We hope to launch …

After this transition, Droplr is calling itself “Snapchat for files” – files uploaded using the free plan self destruct in 7 days. Droplr has clients for iOS, Mac, Windows and Windows Phone.Droplr makes the multi-step process of sharing files and screenshots simple. It’s been recently announced that Cyanogen and OnePlus are parting ways, as Cyanogen is apparently looking for new hardware vendors to partner with to bring its custom Android OS to market. Recently, Cyanogen revealed another surprising news, saying that it will pre-load Microsoft’s apps on its commercial operating system. While we’re not yet quite sure what their strategy is, one thing’s for sure – they are different.Cyanogen has now announced on its blog that it’s partnering with Truecaller, believed to be the world’s largest mobile phone community for mobiles. Truecaller can find contact details globally given name or telephone number, and also has an integrated caller ID service to achieve call-blocking functionality. And now Cyanogen is interested in bringing this feature into future smartphones powered by its operating system. The company said the following:Thanks to our awesome global partnership with Truecaller, you’ll be able to screen calls via caller ID and block unwanted s…
