Sony Announces Z3+ Smartphone, the Worldwide Version of Japan’s Xperia Z4

Sony announced the Xperia Z3+ without too much fuss, and that’s because the device is nothing more but the international version of the Xperia Z4, which the company announced at the end of April for Japanese customers. The new smartphone is an update to the Xperia Z3 and the only difference from the Japanese model is just its name. The smartphone comes with Snapdragon 810 on the inside, an upgrade from the Snapdragon 801 used in the previous model. The Z3+ will now come with 32GB of built-in storage, which is twice the 16GB amount offered in the Z3. However, the RAM remains at 3GB, as Sony doesn’t think it needs to take on smartphones which already come with 4GB of RAM, such as Asus ZenFone 2Lenovo’s K80 or Xiaomi’s Mi Note Pro.The handset sports the same 5.2-inch 1080p Trilumionus display, measuring 146 x 72 x 6.9 mm, which is a bit slimmer than the 7.3 mm thinness of the Xperia Z3, with the rest of its dimensions being the same. Thus, with its even slimmer profile, the Sony Xperia …

5 Trends That Signal The Extinction Of Organic Search Results

Currier and Ives’ depiction of Lincoln’s assassination from the United States Library of Congress. Who killed Lincoln?Let’s say you know 10 historians. If you ask the first one, “Who killed Lincoln?” and he or she told you, “John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln” would you really need to ask the other nine? Probably not. This is why Google built the Knowledge Graph. If Google knows the answer to your question, why bother showing users a list of websites that contain essentially the same answer? In theory, Google could suppress organic results for quite a few searches, delivering just a Knowledge Graph answer and a few ads alongside it. As the Knowledge Graph improves, we could see a day where only a handful of searches require organic links to other sites. While I’m sure Google would argue, “That’s not the plan,” there have been quite a few changes to its search engine that makes a organic-less search results page a real possibility.1. Microsoft Brings Cortana to iPhone, iPad and Android via the Windows 10 Phone Companion App

After Satya Nadella has been appointed as Microsoft’s CEO, we’ve seen the company take a totally different approach, especially towards its cross-platform users. Perhaps two of the most ‘shocking’ announcement from them was making Microsoft Office free for devices less than 10-inches and also making Windows 10 free even for those with pirated versions. So, it’s no surprise that Microsoft has just announced that it’s going to bring Cortana to iOS and Android users, just as it was expected. This news follows yesterday’s report which was suggesting that the company is also working on Office Now, a work-assistant app that would also be available on all major platforms. There’s a lot of work being done at Microsoft, and it’s great to see that most of these new features, services and products put the consumer in the first place. As it was pretty much expected, Microsoft is bringing Cortana to Android phones and iPhones, iPad in the form of an app. iOS and Android users will be able to install…

What Every CMO Should Know About Marketing Automation

Marketing automation for many marketers has become a utility. Emails are sent to prospects, and customers and leads are stored within the database for future communication. For the CMO, viewing the marketing automation platform in that light isn’t sufficient. It doesn’t justify the cost or the effort expended to implement and maintain the tool.Marketing automation is so much more than a platform to store leads and send emails. It is the foundation for many other marketing technology tools. Even more important, it is the platform that’s responsible for elevating marketing’s position in the organization.Reporting On The Numbers That MatterA central value point of a marketing automation platform is reporting. Beyond email opens, bounces and clicks, reports highlight where visitors are on the website, how they arrived at the site, and which assets are driving interest and action.Information about buyers’ interest can determine the best medium (banner ad, email) and message for new content.…

Cortana For Android, iOS Coming Very Soon, Windows 10 To Sync With iPhones, Android

Microsoft is making Windows 10 cross-device friendly. To that end the new operating system will work with Android and the iPhone to sync and make content available across all devices simultaneously. This is both smart and strategic for the company.Redmond has announced a new Phone Companion app within Windows 10 that will connect PCs to mobile devices, regardless of OS:That’s why we’re announcing a ‘Phone Companion’ app built-in to Windows 10, which will help you connect your Windows PC to whatever phone you own– whether it’s a Windows phone, Android phone, or iPhone.Apple offers something similar with its Continuity feature. However that doesn’t work with non-Apple devices. In addition to putting Cortana on Windows 10 PCs, as previously reported Microsoft formally announced a Cortana app for Android and iOS:Today, we’re announcing a Cortana application for Android phones and for iPhones which works as a companion to Cortana on your Windows 10 PC. Gionee M5 Said to Feature Two Different Batteries for up to Four Days of Battery Life

Yesterday we were talking about a little-known smartphone by the name of Innos D6000 which was said to feature the biggest battery capacity yet in a handset. This is allegedly possible thanks to a unique ‘double cell structure technology’ which comprises of two batteries to result in a massive 6,000mAh battery. And now we’re hearing fresh reports that Gionee could be doing the same thing for its upcoming M5 device.A fresh report coming from GizmoChina suggests that the upcoming Gionee M5 smartphone is also going to get two batteries. The publication has obtained a teaser from the company which depicts two batteries. For now, we don’t know if the technology is similar to the one used by Innos, but it seems that the duo should provide up to four days of battery life, which is quite impressive. Most likely, the smartphone will feed itself only on a single battery and will then switch to second one. We’ve seen with the Innos device that one of the two is replaceable and external, so this c…

Rise Above The Noise With Advanced Social Media Sharing Tactics

It’s a jungle out there. Social networks are littered with people and pages clambering for attention. For your page to draw a crowd and a response, you need a more advanced strategy. As a content producer, I can relate to the challenge this task presents. You’re competing with so many other status updates. Getting your content seen by the right audience isn’t just hard — it can feel downright impossible at times.Facebook isn’t making it any easier. With the new algorithm prioritizing content from friends instead of pages, the struggle for businesses is real.Beyond The Basics Of PromotionOne of the problems is businesses failing to promote themselves. Seventy-five percent of marketers post their content only once, according to Kapost research.Take a look at CoSchedule’s social media plan, and you’ll see why that’s not enough. This company gets 31.5 times more traffic using a stronger social media plan than if they just shared their content once and forgot about it.What can you do to get…

Google Said to Release 2 New Nexus Smartphones Made by LG and Huawei this Year, no Tablet

Back in October, last year, Google unveiled its Nexus 6 smartphone (made by Motorola) and the Nexus 9 tablet (made by HTC) along with a  a new Android TV player. And as we’re drawing closer to the usual time of the year when Google announces new hardware, we’ve got some fresh rumors which are claiming that Google will be partnering this year with LG and Huawei for two new Nexus smartphones. The reason why there were so many Motorola-made Nexus devices is obvious – the company belonged to Google at the time. But now Motorola is part of Lenovo’s portfolio, so Google must choose different partners now. The company has worked before with LG, as well, on the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5 handsets, but Huawei could be a first for the company. If Google does indeed come up with two Nexus phones in one year, then this would be the first time it happens. According to AndroidPolice, the two new smartphones are currently known as LG Angler and Huawei Bullhead, which are obviously their codenames. The LG…

Halo Back is a Screen Protector That Adds Back Button to an iPhone

If you have an iPhone, you know how tedious it is to go back to the previous screen. Android smartphones, for comparison, sport an on-screen — and sometimes a physical back button key — which can easily be reached with the thumb. On an iPhone, there is no such back button, however. But that could change soon, thanks to a now-successfully funded Kickstarter project.Halo Back is a glass-made screen protector which interestingly enough, adds a back button to an iPhone. The first of its kind screen protector adds a circuit layer to its traditional counterpart, enabling it to send a signal when one presses the lower left corner of the screen. This makes it possible to go back to the previous page, and allow users to operate the phone with a single hand. The company touts the durability of the screen protector, claiming that it can withstand scratches made from even knives. It offers durability that you expect from “the good ones you get from Amazon or other stores.” Since it is made of glas…

Jony Ive Promoted to Chief Design Officer At Apple, Hands Over Managerial Task to Howarth and Dye

Jony Ive, the head of design at Apple is stepping away from his day-to-day managerial position, the company revealed in a profile by Stephen Fry with The Telegraph. Jony Ive, who was previously Senior Vice President of Design for the Cupertino-based company is now the Chief Design Officer, a newly created role position. But what does it mean for the company? Ive is still in charge of the company’s industrial design and user interface divisions, but he won’t have to worry so much about administrative and management work, which is unarguably best for both him and the company.Over the years, we’ve learned that Ive isn’t much of a public speaker. Even at new product launches, Ive hardly ever attends events to discuss the new iPhone, iPad or iOS, as learned from Ive’s profile by Ian Parker for the New Yorker earlier this year. Instead, Ive makes a video footage explaining the new design language, an agreement both Ive and Cook have cherished for years. On a memo sent by Apple CEO Tim Cook to…
