Multi-Channel Turns Multi-Generational

It’s news to no one that mobile devices are playing a growing role in the way consumers interact with advertisers. But it’s not just about a consumer seeing a mobile video ad before she watches David Letterman get an unexpected visit from “the late Harry Caray” (Will Ferrell, of course); or reading a native ad during her commute about the H&M dress debuted at the Met Gala; or seeing the pop-up ad on the tablet news app she’s reading with her morning coffee. It’s about the connected combination of touchpoints across all her devices that meaningfully influence today’s consumer.Cross-device behavior is often seen as being associated with Millennials. This young, tech-savvy demographic group of digital natives is known for using multiple platforms to connect with brands, research, and shop for products. But what may be surprising is that Millennials aren’t the only demographic driving omnichannel. The Rise Of Multi-Platform Usage Across DemographicsRecent research from ComScore has fou…

Facebook Instant Articles: What’s In It For Advertisers?

Earlier this month, Facebook took the wraps off of its new Instant Articles offering.Another content-focused play for Facebook, Instant Articles is explicitly targeted to media outlets and allows them to, among other features, minimize their content’s loading time on mobile devices — a problem faced by many publishers. For practitioners already using Facebook and FAN, Instant Articles ad inventory will not only be another extensi…

Snapchat CEO Wants To Make It Easier For “Brands To Be Brands,” May Offer Self-Serve Ads

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel is no fan of brands. At least not on Snapchat. He gets frustrated when he sees businesses pretending to be human on the popular messaging app. He doesn’t follow them.“Philosophically, it is important that Snapchat is [a platform] built for people and not for brands,” said Spiegel, during an interview Tuesday on stage at the Code Conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. That’s not much of a welcome mat, or place-setting at the table, for brands who have been using Snapchat — or considering using it — to reach out to Snapchat’s large and young audience. As our Danny Sullivan noted:It's pretty stunning & telling CEO of Snapchat doesn't follow brands on his own service who do some pretty impressive things #CodeCon— Danny Sullivan (@dannysullivan) May 27, 2015 Up to now, Snapchat’s outreach to businesses has mostly been to pitch them to buy expensive ad units within its Stories and Discovery features, campaigns said to have cost up to $750,000 a day bef…
