San Diego Zoo Takes Southern Californians On Safari Without Leaving The State

In an effort to show Southern California residents that they don’t have to fly around the world to experience a safari — when the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is right in their own back yard — M&C Saatchi LA created a street marketing effort called “Safaris Departing Daily.”The agency tricked out a vehicle to look like a realistic safari vehicle and then asked Southern Californians if they’d like to get in and enjoy a safari.Of the stunt, M&C Saatchi LA Executive Creative Director James Bray said: “We assumed that if we stopped random people on the streets and invited them to go on safari that they’d look at us as if we had three heads. And they did. But that was the point. The reality of the whole place is quite shocking.”Those Southern Californians who decided to go on the safari were treated to a visit to the Park to embark on range of safaris — from a Caravan Safari bringing them face to face with giraffes to a Behind-the-Scenes Safari allowing them to hand-feed birds of prey…

Foxconn in Talks to Open a New iPhone Assembly Plant in India: Report

Recently, we’ve seen quite a few tech companies who have expressed their intentions to open a manufacturing or assembling plant in India, but we’re yet waiting for some actual announcements. Now, according to a fresh report coming from reputable business publication Reuters, it seems that Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn could be interested in opening up an iPhone assembly plant in India. In its report, Reuters is citing government officials who claim that Chinese company Foxconn Technology is in talks to manufacture Apple’s iPhone in India. By opening an iPhone assembly plant in India, this would allow Apple and Foxconn to benefit from lower production costs in India as wages continue to increase in China.India could help Foxconn mitigate accelerating wage inflation in China, where it makes the majority of iPhones, and base production sites closer to markets where its key clients want to grow. Lower production costs could also help Foxconn keep hold of Apple orders amid intensify…

Scaling Programmatic Advertising With Dynamic Ads

So you’ve tagged your site. You’ve identified some interesting audience segments. You’ve got some great data, and you are ready to go!However, data only gets you to the door. The creative is what gets you through (and keeps you in the room). Now, look at your creative execution and compare it to your high-level marketing strategy — how closely aligned would you say they are?Marketers get jazzed about programmatic due to the promise of big data — the promise of delivering the right message to the right person at the right time. However, brands quickly learn that even though collecting data is easy, finding smart ways to use it to deliver better, more compelling experiences to customers is much more difficult. The challenge only becomes more complex for large retailers who might have thousands or maybe even millions of different products and iterations in their catalog. Developing, scaling, and maintaining unique creative — while simultaneously ensuring that the creative is personalized a…

7 Things CMOs Should Know About Attribution

Marketing attribution — assigning credit to a marketing touchpoint — has never been more complicated. The explosion of marketing channels and devices has added layers of complexity to what was, a few years ago, a relatively simple funnel. If you don’t have much of a foothold in your understanding of attribution — or if you have what you feel is a shaky one — you are most definitely not alone. The majority of marketers (digital or otherwise) can’t say with certainty exactly how valuable each channel or touchpoint is during each customer’s purchase process. That means they can’t say they’re effectively spending their budget and optimizing revenue, which is the entire goal of attribution. In this post, I’ll break down seven things CMOs need to know about attribution that can make a difference in how you approach your marketing budget — without giving you a headache in the process. (Big hat tip to 3Q’s Ron Fusco and Big Squid Interactive’s Chris Knoch, who flesh out these points in an awesom…

We already that Windows 10 will ship in seven editions, as follows – Home, Pro, Mobile, Education, Enterprise, IoT Core and Mobile Enterprise. And we also know that desktop users will get the free upgrade to Windows 10 at the end of this July, but what we still don’t know is when is Microsoft going to release Windows 10 for  mobile users. But if this recent report coming from Neowin holds any truth in it, then we should expect Windows 10 Mobile to be available “late next quarter,” which hints for a launch at the end of September. The above screenshot has been taken from a presentation Microsoft gave to one of its partners, and in this slide we can clearly see when is Microsoft planning to launch Windows 10 Mobile.According to the Microsoft spokesperson who leaked the info, the OS could also get released in October, as well. How Social Signals Affect Brand Perception – Takeaways From SMX Advanced 2015

At SMX Advanced in Seattle this month, Lin Huang, senior data scientist at Microsoft, presented an intriguing experiment the company has been running. It involves analysis of social media to provide actionable product and brand insights. The goal of the method of analysis it has developed is to help brands better target ad spend and ad content to their core strengths as seen by their customers and fans. The following is a summary of Lin’s presentation.Brand Perceptions From Social MediaIt is rarely the case that the complete story of what fuels a purchase decision can be traced by a series of search queries alone.Opinions expressed about a brand or its products by people in the social circles of a buyer can play a major role in the buying decision. What is too often overlooked is how valuable those same opinions might be for identifying brand/product strengths.Social media is not really a competitor to search engine marketing (SEM). In fact, social media can actually be a rich source fo…

Google Chrome Goes after Opera Mini, Brings 4X Faster Browsing to Android Devices in India

There are a few mobile browsers out there which are ‘gentle’ on the amount of data you consume and there are also some which claim to offer blazing fast browsing speeds. While Google’s own Chrome browser can claim to be able to do things like that, there are other browser like Opera Mini which are reputed for their features. But Google is now apparently interested in improving its Chrome browser, at least for Android users. A fresh blog entry on the Google India website says that the company will be rolling out a new feature to Android devices that will optimize Web pages so they load faster on slow 2G connections. What’s curious is that this will be available only to Indian users, at least for now, as Google is also launching this feature in Brazil soon. The reason why Google chose India is pretty obvious – the country is witnessing an amazing growth of the mobile market but many smartphone owners don’t have a consistent data plan. They either don’t have enough data or they’re out of r…

Apple Music to be a Lot Cheaper in India, Monthly Subscription to Start At Rs 120 ($2)

In the latest episode of The Talk Show, long time Apple blogger John Gruber asks Apple’s VP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller — what many of us are wondering as well — whether he thinks the price of Apple Music a bit on the expensive side. Apple Music, company’s take on the competitive music streaming business will charge $9.99 (Rs 600) per month for an individual membership, and $14.99 (Rs 950) for the family plan in which it will allow up to 6 members to enjoy the service. This is indeed pricier than what alternative services are asking for.But it seems Apple intends to adjust the final price based on your location. As a couple of users point out on Twitter, citing developer preview of iOS 9, Apple Music will be available in India at a price point of Rs 120 ($2) for an individual account (instead of costing north of Rs 600). For the family membership, the company is asking for Rs 180 ($3).If the company does stick with this pricing, it is putting Music app in a far better positio…

Cyanogen Partners With Game Store Playphone As It Continues To Reduce Reliance on Google

You might have heard of Cyanogen Inc. The software firm, which is best known for its Android OS and builds, announced earlier this year that it plans to take Android’s future away from Google’s hands. If that didn’t sound ambitious enough, the company also announced that it intends to pull this off in next 18 months.Since the announcement, there has been a number of developments to this. The company, for instance, inked a deal with Microsoft few weeks ago to bundle software in its Android OS and builds. But realizing it won’t be enough — as Microsoft can only offer so many apps but not everything — the company today announces that it has made another partnership.Cyanogen Inc has partnered with Playphone Inc, a company that offers distribution platform for mobile and social games. The companies confirm that they will be working together to bring their services to international markets through Plaphone game store. For those unfamiliar — which is completely normal — “Playphone develops an…
