Esurance Makes Heartfelt #EqualDreams Argument For Same Sex Marriage In Advance Of Supreme Court Ruling

In advance of the Supreme Court decision on same sex marriage, Esurance is out with a three-minute video in which children share their dreams for the future and, in particular, envision their own wedding and marriage. The insurance provider is making it known that it recognizes and supports marriages of all types at a time when the issue is a part of the national discussion — much of it taking place online and on social media. Marriages, of course, often lead to purchases of things like homeowners’ insurance, life insurance and more.On its site, the company touts its recognition of all same-sex partnerships and assures potential LGBT customers that their unions will garner them the same rates as married couples — even if marriage isn’t recognized in their state. The creative approach of the new campaign is time-tested: present a complex issue to children and they will, with minimal effort and surprising simplicity, make solutions seem so obvious. In the video, created by Leo Burnett duri…

The Power Of Martech Unleashed

Martech guru Scott Brinker’s Marketing Technology landscape supergraphic expanded significantly from 2014 to 2015. The density is overwhelming. With 1,876 products in 43 categories, it’s almost like being in Boston last winter — so much snow and no clear-cut path toward what to do with it.Marketing technology is software. The optimization of finding, understanding, managing and converting leads is the software’s purpose. The software can reside anywhere: apps, SaaS (software as a service) solutions, or internally installed. Marketing automation, content management, and data management services are a few examples of marketing technology tools.“It’s not about the tool; it’s about the problem it’s solving.” Just because there is amazing growth of marketing technology products does not automatically mean the tools will provide business value for you. What it does mean is that the marketing function is changing.Technology (the Internet) has given buyers freedom. Large media organizations hav…

Facebook Testing Recognition Tools For Identifying ‘Faceless’ People In Photos

From Facebook tagging to the newly launched Google Photos, face recognition is here to stay. If the general shape and features of your face are captured, you’ll likely be identified by modern technology. But what if your face isn’t made available? A new experimental algorithm from Facebook is trying to crack that code by looking at ulterior identifying elements.According to NewScientist, Facebook is looking at unique characteristics such as hair, clothing, body shape and pose for identification outside of facial features. Of course facial recognition isn’t just applicable for social settings, but is also currently used in stores and churches to gain more information from their clientele. The new algorithm doesn’t need the face to make the ID.A Facebook team that tested the new algorithm was able to pull in 40,000 public Flickr photos without faces showing and make a proper ID 83% of the time. Facebook’s head of artificial intelligence, Yann LeCun, stated:“There are a lot of cues we u…

How to Transcribe Video Files to Text with YouTube

A college professor is looking to transcribe some audio files as text and publish them online. He wrote – “We have some old lectures recorded on reel-to-reel tapes. We have digitized the audio lectures using Audacity and would now like to transcribe the audio and publish the lectures as text. What is the best way to proceed?”A quick Google search will return a list of paid transcription services where you can hire people who will accurately transcribe and convert the audio content of your digital files into text. However, if you are looking for an inexpensive and automated option, YouTube can help. When you upload a video file to YouTube, it will automatically generate subtitles or closed captions for that video. Snapchat CEO Promises Better, Non-“Creepy” Digital Advertising

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel continued his Snapchat-ads-are-better campaign today in France.Spiegel, the 25-year-old founder of the social messaging network, speaking during a keynote interview at the Cannes Lions advertising festival, argued that digital advertising is all too often ineffective and intrusive. He criticized re-targeting ads that follow people around the web, horizontal video ads that force people to rotate their phones and desktop ads clumsily repurposed for mobile devices. What Snapchat does is “really different than Internet advertising,” Spiegel said, quoted by the Wall Street Journal. “We’ve been lucky. We didn’t have any legacy Internet ad-serving infrastructure.”Instead, Snapchat has been free to experiment with ad formats and has settled on videos that play within both user-generated and professionally produced content on the network.Spiegel’s appearance at Cannes coincided with a new Snapchat marketing campaign for its advertising effort. Vodka Brand’s Online Game Encourages Players to #DropThatBeat At The Right Moment

Likely, you’ve all experienced that moment in a nightclub where the music is building to that point of crescendo when the ultimate DJ-induced climax occurs. Working with Happiness Brussels, Eristoff Vodka has turned that moment into an online game called Drop That Beat, the aim of which is to identify the exact moment the beat will drop. The campaign is said to target what the brand calls Nightwolves — men in their twenties who love to club, the exact group Eristoff wants buying its vodka. The Bacardi brand liberally uses wolf-oriented language and imagery which refers to its origin in Georgia, whose name in Persian means “land of the wolf.” Its logo incorporates a drawing of a wolf howling at the moon.The web-based, multi-platform game has single and multiplayer modes and all that is required of the player is to hold a finger on a button until the exact moment the beat drops in one of four songs, each of which changes each time the game is played thus altering the exact moment the bea…

YouTube has a nearly decade-long head start over Facebook in the online video race, but the social network is catching up quickly.According to a recent survey and market research by Ampere Analysis, Facebook is primed to rack up two thirds as many video views as Google’s network in 2015 — two trillion views compared to three trillion on YouTube. As recently as the third quarter of 2014, Facebook trailed YouTube in views by a factor of 9x.And because of that reach and momentum in growth, Facebook stands to become a more serious contender in the battle for share in the lucrative video advertising market.Up to now, Facebook seems to have been content with slow-playing its video advertising efforts. It doesn’t offer pre-roll ads and is only experimenting with post-roll revenue sharing partnerships with the NFL and Fox Sports. Content providers mostly are using the video platform for branding and awareness campaigns.Even so, Facebook’s challenge to YouTube is showing strength. Based on sim…
