Is Facebook Planning Its Own Video Streaming App? Survey Suggests Interest

Is Facebook looking to jump into the live-video stream?Up to now, the social network has sat on the sidelines while first Meerkat, then Twitter-owned Periscope launched services that enable people to quickly live-stream moments with mobile devices. Facebook has stuck with recorded video with famously outstanding results; in April the company reported an average of 4 billion views a day, and there’s no evidence that Facebook video is any less popular today. But there is some evidence that Facebook could be kicking the tires on a live-streaming service of its own.Recently a Marketing Land editor received an emailed survey from Facebook that included detailed questions about his viewing of live-streaming video. The survey started with general queries about online video viewing but quickly shifted to focus on live-streaming preferences.Of course, Facebook regularly does market research, so the existence of this survey doesn’t prove the company is working on a Meerkat-Periscope competitor. …

Beardbrand: Facebook Is Frustrating, But We May Shift Our AdWords Budget There

Beardbrand co-founder Eric Bandholz. Photo credit: Todd White Beardbrand seems like a perfect candidate to be a Facebook marketing success story. An evangelist for the bearded lifestyle, Beardbrand produces a steady stream of quality content aimed at men “who are passionate not only about their facial hair, but their style, their careers and their independence” as co-founder Eric Bandholz told the panel on Shark Tank last year. The company sells beard oil, mustache wax and other grooming supplies, but it’s also making a strong pitch to create a community for men with beards. That ethos has helped it build a large following on Facebook, with more than 57,000 likes on a Facebook Page brimming with photos, video and stories celebrating bearded men and advising them how to take care of their facial hair. Most of the content comes from Urban Beardsman, the company’s slick blog that is helmed by a full-time editor. It’s exactly the type of high-quality material that Facebook recommends business…

How To Begin Leveraging Your First-Party Data By Understanding The Landscape

Known only a few years ago as “digital” consumers, today’s customers are now “always on” thanks to the ever-increasing use of multiple connected devices throughout the day and on the path to purchase. At the same time, consumers expect a greater level of consistency in their experiences across physical and digital touchpoints — making the need for a unified marketing strategy imperative. It is no longer sufficient to rely on tags and cookies to track and reach users on the Web, while relying on entirely different strategies on different channels. Instead, marketers must now be prepared to measure and respond to consumer behavior in real time, on any channel, in order to maximize their likelihood of influencing a conversion. This requires a new approach to the way that marketers conduct campaigns and initiatives. Rather than chasing the next shiny object that promises to reach consumers in a unique way, they should first prioritize the collection and analysis of data as a discipline that…

10 Stupidly Simple “Hacks” To Win At Content Marketing

Content marketing is hard. But it doesn’t have to be boring.Lately I’ve been trying my hand at testing smart little tactics — or what I call “hacks” — to get better results out of the content marketing strategy I oversee. And I’ve been amazed at what tiny, innovative tests can do to drive some serious results. Plus, it’s pretty fun!I was first inspired by researching the idea of “growth hacking” for a presentation I’ve done at a couple of conferences called, in short, “Hacking Human” … which doesn’t involve body parts and machetes, I swear. The gist of it is that marketers can optimize their content for what humans want and are looking for online, and then use growth hacking principles to test their assumptions and get the most out of their efforts. But whereas growth hacking implies ninja-like manipulation of technologies and code, all I’m advocating here is more of a shift in how we, as marketers, can carve out smart solutions to reach our end goals. In fact, Dan Martell of Clarity s…

Whether you are looking for a list of college students who are currently interning at Facebook or a head hunter building a pool of presumptive candidates, LinkedIn will not disappoint.LinkedIn has a useful search function to help you find potential candidates but do you know that Google search can also help to find people on LinkedIn. Google indexes every public profile of LinkedIn and if you perform people search on LinkedIn via Google, you get a few additional features:While LinkedIn will only show 10 results per search query in one page, Google can return up to 100 results in one search results page. You can perform date-limited searches in Google and this is helpful when you are only looking for profiles that have been created or updated in a particular date range. You can automatically easily save your LinkedIn search results in a spreadsheet using …

Confusing, right? You’ve probably gone through this situation where you have multiple copies of the same file residing in your Google Drive and, while you would like everyone to use the latest version, they are either not aware that the file has been updated or it takes too much work to locate it in the Drive. When you have multiple copies of the same file in Drive, it not only creates confusion but the files also take up precious storage space in your Drive.
