But no matter what they say come September, now is the time to begin preparing for a jolly Q4. Upcoming Huawei Nexus Tipped to get Snapdragon 820 and a 5.7-inch QHD display

Google is believed to release two new Nexus smartphones this year, one made by LG and another one by Huawei. This would be the first time for Google to partner with Huawei for a Nexus device and now a fresh leak suggests that this is going to be a quite capable device. For this year, Google is believed to be working on a refreshed Nexus 5 developed by LG and on a larger-sized Huawei-made handset. Leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) is hinting at some of the probable hardware specs of the Huawei Nexus, saying that the device will get a 5.7-inch Quad HD display along with the yet in development Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC.Furthermore, Blass claims the phone will get a metal body which will be the first time when this will happen for a Nexus-branded device. A fingerprint scanner is also believed to make its way, which isn’t that surprising, as we already know that Android M will get native support for fingeprint reading.

The handset is expected to ship in Q4 2015, which is on par with Google’s …

Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ Release Date Set for August 12 [Report]

A few days back we were telling you that Samsung might rush with the release of the Galaxy Note 5 so that it won’t overlap with the launch of the upcoming new iPhones. And now a fresh report coming from SamMobile seems to suggest that this is indeed going to happen, as the South Korean company will launch both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ on August 12.Speaking to the Samsung-focused publication, insiders have revealed that the Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 12 (Wednesday), and will go on sale two weeks later on August 21 (Friday). The South Korean phonemaker is also believed to launch the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, as well (marketed as Galaxy S6 Edge+), which will share the Note 5’s release dates. SamMobile also points out that Samsung Pay will make its way for US users with this occasion. When it comes to the specs and features of the next-generation Galaxy Note, it seems that the device will not have a microSD slot. The device is believed to be a ‘blown-up version’ of t…

Google Piloting Buy Button In Mobile Search Ads With “Purchases On Google”

The Google buy button in search ads is officially rolling out in an experimental phase, the company announced Wednesday. The new feature is called Purchases on Google and actually isn’t a button at all.Rumored about since last year, Google confirmed last month that the new feature would be coming soon. Purchases on Google is being tested publicly with just a handful of high-volume retailers. “Buy On Google” messaging will appear in eligible product listing ads on Android and iOS devices. The goal is to make it easier for users to transact on smartphones — and make mobile search more competitive with marketplaces that already make it easy for consumers to make purchased on their smartphones, namely Amazon. The idea being consumers will see Google as a place for fast product discovery and purchasing on mobile, and advertisers will be willing to spend more on mobile ads that have higher conversion rates. That sounds simple, but as anyone who’s worked with e-commerce and payments systems ca…

The 5 Pieces Of A Virtuous Segmentation Cycle

For marketers, segmentation allows for better personalization, and for customers, that means more relevant messages. Still, segmentation is frequently spoken of as a black-and-white thing for a company — either you are segmenting or you aren’t.But in reality, the process is what matters, because segments must be kept up-to-date and continuously iterated on and improved so that they allow retailers to hit their goal: better, more targeted emails. The process by which a company drives its segmentation program forward is what separates the best marketing teams from the industry at large. Below I’ve outlined the five steps many of the teams I work with use to get the most from the customer database. To help illustrate what that looks like in real life, I’ll also walk through each step in relation to a case study from Crocs showing how it was able to decrease the number of email promotions it sends. (Disclosure: Crocs is a client of Custora, my employer.)1. Analyze DataThe first step is to t…

How to Customize the Facebook Page Plugin for Websites

The old Like box for Facebook Pages has been deprecated and replaced with a new Page Plugin. If you have not manually upgraded the embed code for Like box on your website yet, no worries as Facebook has automatically migrated all the Like boxes using the old embed code to the new Page Plugin.Unlike the previous Like box that carried too much Facebook branding, the new Facebook Page plugin is cleaner without any branding. You can now display the cover photo of your Facebook Page inside the Like box. You can also add a “Call to Action” button that will redirect people to your email newsletter or prompt them to install your mobile app and so on.The other difference that you can now only display a single row of fan pictures inside the Page Plugin. Why does this matter? The pile shows profile pictures of mutual friends who have liked your Facebook Page and thus, when a casual visitor sees a familiar face inside that pile, it is likely to increase their interest in your website. What you see…

How To Overcome The 3 Biggest Barriers To Mobile Marketing Success

Today, most marketers will state that mobile is one of their top priorities. However, when you dig deeper, you discover that many mobile marketing programs have yet to take full flight.Based on hundreds of conversations with prospects and customers, I’ve learned that one of the main reasons for this stagnation is that many marketers make the false assumption that the success other companies are experiencing cannot be replicated. Too many marketers think that what’s working for Men’s Wearhouse or Pep Boys is unique to those companies and their situations. (Disclosure: Men’s Wearhouse and Pep Boys are clients.)The reality is that mobile marketing success is not predicated on any particular business segment’s business model; any retailer can achieve significant revenue with mobile. Companies that impose these “mobile limitations” on themselves are missing out on a transformative opportunity. Here are three keys to navigating organizational challenges to launch a successful mobile marketin…

Survey: Facebook, Twitter Gaining As “Important” News Sources

Americans increasingly see Twitter and Facebook as meaningful sources for news. That’s true across age and other demographic categories but for younger users, these sites are becoming a primary news source.More people get news from Facebook simply because of its much larger user base, while Twitter has a meaningful edge however as a “breaking news” source. Roughly 8 percent of US adults get news from both Facebook and Twitter. These findings are part of a social media and news consumption survey from Pew Research. The survey was conducted in March of 2015 by research firm GfK. The survey is a follow up to a similar one conducted in 2013.According to the data a majority of both Facebook and Twitter users now see each platform as a source of news and information outside of friends and family updates. Those numbers have increased by at least 10 points in each case since 2013.One of the observed differences between news consumption on both platforms is the diversity of topics seen. Pew say…

This isn’t exactly an official launch, but we can have a thorough look at the device and all its specs and features. The new Galaxy A8 is Samsung’s thinnest phone to date, having a thinness of 5.9 millimeters.
