Apple Highlights 100 Cools Apps and Games Available for Just Rs.10 on the App Store

Apple recently introduced low-tier pricing for India and five other countries. Until now, the cheapest an app could sell for was Rs 60. Developers could set $0.99 as the base price and then Apple would convert it to the local currency for the respective country – factoring in things like local taxes. Now, developers will be free to set a special Alternate Tier A (Rs 10) and Alternate Tier B (Rs 30) pricing for their app if they choose to. In fact, this structure is already live in the China App Store. This change only reflects the iOS App Store and not the Mac App Store. And to celebrate the fact, App Store today has a special “100 Apps and Games at new low prices” feature in the App Store. And if you’re new to iOS or never really thought of buying apps, you’re in for a treat. Because an unbelievably high amount of the apps featured in the sale are must-haves.Pixelmator, for instance, brings desktop class photo editing tools to iPhone and iPad. Usually sells for Rs 620. Right now? Rs 10…

Despite #PrimeDayFail Complaints, Amazon Says Prime Day Was Better Than Black Friday & Will Be Back

Amazon home page as it appeared on Wednesday’s Prime Day. If you listened to consumers tweeting about #PrimeDayFail, it would appear Amazon’s one-day of deal for Prime members was a bust. But, not according to Amazon. The company has announced, that as it had predicted, more units were sold on the site during Wednesday’s Prime Day than on Black Friday last year and will “definitely” hold another Prime Day again.Customers took to Twitter on Wednesday using the #PrimeDayFail hashtag to complain about stock-outs and poor sale selection throughout the day.As bad as the Lightning Deals are, there's still a waitlist to save 36% on a 16 bar pack of soap! #PrimeDayFailhttp://pic.twitter.com/PCHkH9u0WH— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) July 16, 2015 And yet, through the noise, sales broke all Black Friday records and drove “hundreds of thousands” more customers to sign up for Prime membership — more than any other single day in the program’s history — says Amazon.ChannelAdvisor also confirms th…

Report: Half Top 100 Digital Properties’ Audiences Are Now Mobile-Only

The gap between mobile devices and the PC is growing. Last week Gartner and IDC reported that Q2 PC sales were down between 9.5 and 11.8 percent year over year. By contrast smartphone penetration and mobile time with media are going in the opposite direction, creating a significant disparity between the two media platforms — especially among younger users.According to comScore’s recent Global Mobile Platform Report 61 percent of total digital media time in the US is spent with smartphones and tablets while 39 percent is on the desktop. This split varies by country examined in the report; the UK and Canada are mobile dominant but with a slightly less dramatic split. One of the more potent findings in report concerns the mobile-only audience. These are people who are only interacting with digital content on mobile devices. In the US, comScore says that nearly half of the audience of the top 100 digital media providers is now mobile-only.The implications of this are obvious and immediate:…

Apple and Samsung Said to be Working on a New Standard for Embedded SIM cards

According to a fresh report coming from Financial Times, it seems that both Apple and Samsung are in advanced talks with cell providers to launch new ‘e-SIM’ cards. e-SIM stands for embedded SIM and refers to a type of subscriber identity module that would allow a mobile users to avoid being locked into a plan with a single operator, permitting it to switch instantly to another carrier of his choice.Apple is no stranger to this concept, as it has introduced its own Apple SIM inside the iPad Air (which, by the way, has recently expanded to over 90 countries). But the iPhone is a much more mobile device, if I can say so, therefore many are looking forward to the moment when Apple brings this functionality to the world’s most profitable phone, as well. And this could happen as soon as this fall, when the new iPhones are expected to be unveiled, as FT reports that GSMA (the industry association which represents mobile operators worldwide) could soon announce an agreement to produce a stand…

Knowing how to best communicate and market goods and services to customers via email is key to business success and expansion. No matter what type of marketing email you’re sending — whether it be newsletters, promotions, coupons and special offers, or transactional email such as purchase receipts, notifications, or order confirmations — the scattergun approach is no longer the right way to go about communicating with your users. The trick is to use your available data to fine-tune your messages and deliver communications that will motivate your user to take action.Listed below are the most important things to bear in mind when aimi…

Responsive Is The McDonald’s Cheeseburger Of Mobile SEO

Which would you prefer? Columnist Bryson Meunier argues that responsive web design is the McDonald’s Cheeseburger of SEO and mobile Web design. In the past, I have pointed out the shortcomings of responsive Web design (RWD) when it comes to SEO, but I’ve always been more of a realist. Responsive can be a good solution for SEO if it makes sense for your users and business goals. But that doesn’t mean that by going responsive there are no risks for SEO. A business owner has to weigh the potential SEO risks of a responsive solution with potential SEO risks from the other site configurations that Google supports. But in my mind, there are potential risks (and potential benefits) from all three.I would even go so far as to say that it is possible for a skilled webmaster or SEO practitioner to mitigate all SEO risks associated with dynamic serving and mobile URLs. But only dynamic serving (including RESS) and mobile URLs allow the option of providing separate content for searchers when it’s a…

Commerce Is Coming: Facebook To Test Shopping Within Pages

Facebook wants you to use the network for keeping up with friends, staying abreast on news and now to shop? According to a BuzzFeed report, Facebook is building shops within Facebook Pages — something still in a test phase. The Facebook Pages will feature micro e-commerce experiences with the entire shopping experience occurring within Facebook itself. According to the reports the shops will appear directly underneath the “about” section as shown in the mocked-up example above.Last year Facebook debuted thebuy button; a beefier commerce experience is a natural extension of this functionality. Other reports have shown that the traffic coming from Facebook is the most apt to make purchases than any other social site, further cementing the possibility of this test. “With the shop section on the page, we’re now providing businesses with the ability to showcase their products directly on the page” – Facebook product marketing manager, Emma RodgersCommerce on Facebook could be a very powerfu…

How an Honest Affiliate Mistake Cost Me $558 & TakeAway For You

Over the years I have shared various tips & tricks of affiliate marketing here at ShoutMeLoud. I have authored an affiliate marketing eBook and have also organized workshops on affiliate marketing. I have shared my commutative earnings from affiliate marketing, and I continue to share as I learn something new.Recently I had a loss of $558.60 in affiliate marketing, and today you can learn something from my mistake. The program in which I incurred a loss of $558 was the Aweber affiliate program. This was in part Aweber’s mistake, and in part mine. While I was trying to convince Aweber to send me money (which is rightfully mine), I learned about an error that you might also be making. This post is for all affiliate marketers, to ensure that you don’t lose money like I did. There is often a fear among affiliate marketers that a company may not pay their affiliate income. I had this fear for years until SEMRUSH did something that made me believe in all online companies. I had been an af…
