YouTube 360-Degree Video Comes To TrueView Ads

Brands can now promote YouTube’s relatively new 360-degree video format in TrueView ads.In March, YouTube began supporting 360-degree video uploads made with compatible 360-degree video cameras. The new TrueView ads can be viewed in Chrome and the YouTube app on Android and iOS. By clicking on the icon in the ad on computers or by moving a phone around up and down, left and right, users can change their view of what’s happening in the video. The company says 360-degree video can deliver higher levels of consumer engagement than traditional video ads.Coca-Cola created a 360-degree video to celebrate the 100th anniversary of its bottle design. Google says, when the video was run as a TrueView ad, it outperformed standard in-stream video ad view-through rates (the number of times the ad was viewed versus skipped) by 38 percent.Bud Light is the first advertiser in the US to run TrueView ads with 360-degree video. The campaign puts viewers in the middle of three events from the brand’s What…

This Quarter In Facebook: Engagement Rates Up As Costs Come Down

Confidently taking stock of the Facebook environment and appropriately rolling out tactics to best meet strategic goals is an ongoing challenge, even for large advertisers. New ad types debut, others are modified, targeting criteria are adjusted, and that’s on top of the platform itself growing more globally and its ads becoming ingrained in areas outside of Facebook. To provide some guidance in this fluid marketplace, the team and I at Nanigans (my employer) release a wide-ranging Benchmark Report every quarter. The idea is to quantify metrics like click-through rate (CTR), cost per click (CPC) and cost per mille (CPM) across the entirety of Nanigans’ client base. Each quarter’s sample comprises hundreds of millions of dollars in ad spend across hundreds of different brand advertisers. However, it’s worth noting that the vast majority of Nanigans’ customers are direct response advertisers at e-commerce, gaming and other internet and mobile-focused companies. So we are looking at a subs…

Top 5 Apps That Deliver Tech and World News Directly to Your Phone Really Quickly

Circa was kind of a perfect mobile news app. It had a minimal UI, it was really fast at updating users with breaking news, all while writing the content in-house. The news articles were written in bite-size chunks. And updates to articles were added in the same story. It was awesome. Until it wasn’t.Circa got a lot of users, overworked a lot of their employees. But without a clear monetization plan, it was difficult to survive. They closed shop on June 24th. But Circa was a thought leader in this category and showed us the need for a mobile-first news reading app with just the right balance of notifications.A perfect substitute to Circa doesn’t exists. But there are many apps that come close. Some believe that NYT Now app was a clear response to Circa. If you’re in the market for a mobile news reader that offers mobile friendly news and notifications for important breaking news, check out the apps below.1. Mi 4 or Mi 4i: The Rs 14,999 Question

Xiaomi has just given those wanting to purchase a good smartphone for less than Rs 15,000 a very pleasant headache indeed. A few weeks ago, the company had announced a reductiuon in the price of its former flagship, the Mi 4 from Rs 19,999 to Rs 14,9999, and today it followed it up by announcing a 32 GB variant of its Mi 4i for Rs 14,999 (it had earlier launched a 16 GB version for Rs 12,999). Both devices boast good hardware and design, and in a perfect world, one could pick up one of each and add to one’s vast phone collection (it would be vast if you went picking up devices in that fashion), but if you have just Rs 15,000 in your wallet and one Mi device to choose, which one would it be? Well, here’s our attempt to simplify matters for you:Appearance – A tale of plastic and a piece of steel! Both the Mi 4 and Mi 4i are very smart looking devices, but in different ways. While the Mi 4 rests on a metal frame, the Mi 4i is an all-plastic affair. While the Mi 4 has a glossy back, the Mi…

OnePlus 2 has been hogging the limelight from quite a while and just recently the company had confirmed some of the OnePlus 2 hardware specifications. Now, the phone has been spotted on the Chinese TENAA certification website giving us further sneak peek into the design of the handset. The photos give away the fact that camera sensor unit along with the LED flash has relocated downwards.Alongside OnePlus 2 the company also seems to be working on a design centric smartphone which will cater to a special audience preferring design over other aspects of the smartphone.
