Facebook Is Testing M, A Siri-Like Personal Assistant Within Messenger

Facebook announced today that it is working on a personal assistant service called M. The service within Facebook’s Messenger application will answer user queries and provide recommendations for gifts for friends, places to dine, et cetera. That’s territory already covered by rival personal assistants like Apple’s Siri, Microsoft’s Cortana or Google’s Google Now, but Facebook says M take it several steps farther and actually complete tasks for users. Introducing M a Facebook post this morning, Facebook VP of messaging products David Marcus explained:Unlike other AI-based services in the market, M can actually complete tasks on your behalf. It can purchase items, get gifts delivered to your loved ones, book restaurants, travel arrangements, appointments and way more.Marcus didn’t explain how task completion will actually work, but the Messenger platform has recently incorporated payment options and the ability for businesses to chat directly to consumers and that functionality will like…

7 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Survey Emails

Email is one of the most popular channels for distributing a survey. But for some reason, most of the emails I receive that include a survey look like they were thrown together as an afterthought. Many have boring subject lines and uninspiring copy and creative, so I rarely feel compelled to participate. If your emails with surveys are lacking opens, engagement and click-throughs, here are my seven tips for improving them:1. Craft Compelling Subject LinesTypical survey subject lines:Customer satisfaction survey
Take our surveyLet us know what you thinkSatisfaction surveyWe want your feedbackI don’t know about you, but these subject lines just don’t do it for me. Yes, they do make it clear what awaits me inside of the email, but they definitely don’t encourage me to open.I’d be more likely to open if the subject line set my expectations, told me what’s in it for me and had some personalization. I realize that sounds hard — but it’s really not. Most ESPs offer options that do all those th…

Google’s YouTube Gaming Streaming Site to Take on Amazon’s Twitch.tv, Starting Tomorrow

YouTube Gaming is all set to go public starting tomorrow and users can directly access the services by pointing their browsers to http://gaming.youtube.com. Users can check out who all are streaming and they can also start a stream by themselves. Coincidentally, this move comes exactly after one year after Google sold its Twitch.tv to Amazon. As of now, the site still asks for your e-mail and region thus promising a timely update once the service is launched in your country. The best part of YouTube Gaming is that the streams will be categorized under a gaming title which will allow ardent gamers to check out new and hidden content in the games. We hope that YouTube will convert the stream to a traditional video once it is over, this will help it create a rather huge repositories of Gaming content. The beta version of the streaming dashboard will be launching tomorrow and the service is devoid of any scheduling thus allowing streamers to stream it whenever they want to. In essence the e…

The 25% Rule For Reporting And Why It Matters

Detailed and consistent reporting is vital to any online marketing effort because it tells the story of the work being done. Both the agency and the client need to document these initiatives to ensure that (ideally) progress is being made.Unfortunately, an all-too-common problem is that too much reporting is occurring, hindering management and growth efforts. In this post, I will discuss ways to minimize time spent on reporting while making it just as effective, but first I’m going to define how much reporting is too much. While I will give examples from the PPC space, where I work, many of the principles I’ll outline apply no matter what your marketing discipline.Generally, reporting (including written analysis) should take no more than 25 percent of your monthly billable hours. For example, if you bill 40 hours, then at the most, you should be doing 10 hours’ worth of reporting. In other words, for every three hours of management, you are conducting one hour of reporting.I’ve found t…

How to Prepare YourSelf for First Stage Presentation

Stage presentation is always fun, as you will be showcasing your talent in front of the audience who are there to listen to you. But, when you are giving your first stage presentation in front of many people, it’s scary and at times it can go completely wrong. Especially if you don’t prepare yourself & on the stage for the first time, the sudden rush will make you look stupid, as you might not be able to speak anything for minutes. You know that awkward silence?.It’s very important to be mentally prepared before the presentation, to ensure you end up speaking in a way that your listener could understand. It doesn’t matter if you are giving a presentation in college, a Workshop to selected people, or in a panel discussion.  Preparing for your first presentation is always advisable.  After first stage presentation, you will understand many things that can’t be explained in words.I started my journey as a speaker on 5th March 2013, when I spoke in front of 20 some bloggers at an event i…

Here’s Why Those Snapchat Snapcode “Ghosts” Are Invading Twitter Profiles

Snapchat Snapcode “ghosts” are popping up all over Twitter profiles, and it’s likely to get worse in the coming days. Don’t know what a Snapchat ghost is or why someone does this? Come along, and I’ll explain all.First, if you don’t even get Snapchat at all, let me direct you to my post from earlier this year that provides a still-good overview (or at least I think it does):A Marketer’s Guide To Snapchat & How Brands Can Build Followers Through “Stories”As you’ll discover, Snapchat isn’t just for teens nor as a way for only teens to send private messages to each other. As a regular user this year, I’ve found it a wonderful way to pass the time seeing the “Stories” that people and brands share on the service. That story also explains the concept of a Snapchat ghost, or a “Snapcode,” as Snapchat calls them. These are an easy way for anyone using Snapchat to add you as someone they want to follow. When you have Snapchat open, do this:Tap on your own ghost at the top of the screenTap “A…
