IDC: Smartphone Growth Slows, Apple Watch Now #2 Wearable After Fitbit

China’s stock market crash has inserted fear and doubt into the global economy over the past week. A faltering Chinese market could also have a major impact on hardware devices sales, especially smartphones.Independent of this immediate crisis, however, IDC has been predicting slowing China sales as the market becomes more mature. Below are the firm’s latest smartphone shipments estimates, which do not indicate sales or real-world market share but are taken as a proxy for those things.According to these figures, Android will maintain its current 81 percent market-share dominance through 2019. Apple’s iPhone will lose some ground says IDC, which also predicts Windows Phone will grow from a 2.6 percent global share in 2015 to a 3.6 percent. However that’s somewhat dubious given Microsoft’s current ambivalence about its mobile platform and its “pivot” toward Android and iOS.IDC sees so-called phablets remaining popular and driving growth across both developed and developing markets. As pa…

Burger King’s Call For A One-Day Truce With McDonald’s Is Rebuffed

McDonald’s didn’t exactly decline Burger King’s offer of a one-day truce and collaboration, but it didn’t say yes, either. Yet the ensuing speculation and discussion the stunt has created has likely reached a higher volume than it would have if McDonald’s had grinned and shaken hands over the deal.First, a little background. When you’re the #3 fast food chain, what have you got to lose by offering a cease-fire to your most important competitor, which happens to be the #1 player in the space? That seems to be the thinking behind Burger King’s #SettleTheBeef campaign launched yesterday, which aims to convince McDonald’s to commemorate the United Nations-declared Peace Day by collaborating with it to create the “McWhopper” — a conglomeration of the two chains’ signature burgers. The big event would take place on September 21, the day designated by the UN.To support the campaign, according to a report in the New York Times, Burger King purchased full-page ads in the newspaper and the Chica…

iPhone 6s Camera Details Leaked: 12MP, 4K Video, Selfie Flash and More

The next-generation iPhone is believed to be unveiled on September 9 at a special event in San Francisco. And, as it happens every year, as we’re approaching the release date, dozens of rumors and leaks surface online. And today we’re taking into account one that’s quite detailed and comes from a reliable source – Mark Gurman with 9to5Mac.According to him, the upcoming iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will witness an important upgrade in the camera department, as the numbers of megapixels will be increased for the first time since the iPhone 4S was launched back in 2011. Thus, the 8-megapixel sensor will be upgraded to a 12MP one, in what seems to be a long overdue move. This increase will allow the new iPhones to take larger, higher-resolution photos without a downgrade in quality, which is has been made possible thanks to an improved image signal processor which is part of the new A9 SoC.  Video recording will also see a significant bump, as the new iPhones will now get 4K video recordin…

Microsoft Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL Leaked Images Point at a Protruding Camera and a Triple LED Flash Setup

Microsoft has been gearing up to unveil its two new flagships this October along with the new Windows 10 Mobile. Serial tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has posted full render screenshots of both the devices and it is very difficult not to believe them as they seem to be coming from official press images. The devices in question arthe e Lumia 950 (codenamed Talkman)and Lumia 950 XL (codenamed Cityman). The render pictures from above show both the devices in full glory. The Lumia 950 sports a unnervingly large aluminium ring around the camera lens and this design element makes the phone stick out like a sore thumb. We can clearly observe that the camera pod is protruding from the side profile pictures and is accompanied by a triple LED flash setup. The Lumia 950 doesn’t look any better from the front as it still houses the thick bezels and the onscreen buttons that make the phone no more different than its predecessors. The volume rocker key is followed by the power button on the left hand …

Just Having A Mobile-Friendly Site Isn’t Enough To Ensure It Shows In Search

So you’ve checked the box and now have a mobile-friendly site. “Mobilegeddon” convinced you that mobile searchers are worth paying attention to, so you made your site responsive or at least gave mobile searchers content they don’t have to pinch and zoom to view.Mission accomplished. On to the next thing. Right?Maybe not so fast. Here’s an example that might make you think twice. The other day, my wife asked me to pick up something for dinner, and being a carb-based lifeform from the Midwest in close proximity to a Noodles & Company, I went to my phone to pull up the menu.Using the query [noodles and company menu], as more than 39k searchers per month do on their smartphones, according to Google Keyword Planner, I scrolled past the ad in the first place and the featured answer in the second as I wanted pictures, and clicked through to the menu……which was not mobile-friendly.So Noodles & Company doesn’t have a mobile-friendly site, right? Not the end of the world. But the thing is…

Account-Based Marketing: Back To Basics

One cool thing about my job is that I get the chance to talk to really smart marketing leaders all the time. And I’m always struck by the fact that despite the massive investment in marketing tech over the past few years and the huge amount of innovation we’ve seen, I still hear the same three core problems:My advertising doesn’t workMy website sucksMy sales guys don’t follow up on my leadsIf you found yourself nodding your head for any of these, then you probably know that your current marketing strategy isn’t up to snuff. Ready to change that? For a lot of B2B marketers looking for solutions to their marketing challenges, the answer is account-based marketing, or ABM.Now, some readers may have experience with ABM. The concept has actually been around for 10 or 15 years. But back in the day, ABM typically meant a field marketing team sitting down with their sales counterparts, identifying 25 or maybe 50 accounts to target, and then developing some analog marketing programs for those a…

It’s official. Facebook has been working on an “virtual assistant” which will be incorporated within the messenger app, this new feature will not only spearhead the company’s idea of adding new dimensions to its services, but also make it go loggerheads with the other players in the competition including Google, Microsoft and Apple. This is what Facebook Messenger lead David Marcus had to say about the new assistant “Today we’re beginning to test a new service called M.
