Jet Tries Quirky Branding Effort That Turns Customers’ Shopping Carts Into Videos

While Jet.com, founded by a former Amazon exec with high hopes of making it a big e-commerce player, has gotten lots of play in the business press, many consumers are likely unaware of its existence. And even those who’ve heard of Jet don’t necessarily have a sense of Jet’s brand “personality,” as it were, given it just launched to the public on July 21.That’s the problem the company tried to remedy this week with #JetSpree, an oddball semi-user-generated marathon video effort that involved a barbershop quartet, double dutch jump-ropers, a yodeler, a pantomime artist, an improv group and a reluctant turtle (complete with turtle wrangler).Turtle Wrangler Jim Lovisek of the Toronto Nature Center working on the Jet Spree set on Wednesday September 9, 2015 Liza Landsman, Jet’s Chief Customer Officer, told me the effort was born of the brand’s discussions with socially-oriented agency SS+K about an important question: “How do we infuse the humanity and fun-ness of our culture into how we ex…

The Recode story cited multiple sources who described a feature that would almost immediately show articles to people who tapped on a link in Twitter or within Google search results. It’s the companies’ attempt to at solving the impatience problem, the fact that many publishers’ websites load so slowly on mobile devices that readers give up and move on before they get to a story. The solutions offered by Facebook and Apple solution is to host publishers’ content on their platforms. Standing On Shoulders Of Apple Pay, Google’s Android Pay Officially Launches

Google was first with Wallet. But it was blocked by frightened mobile carriers and, beyond that, failed to capture the imagination of users. Apple’s later-arriving Apple Pay got the user experience right and helped educate the market, laying the groundwork for Google mobile payments take-two: Android Pay.Google Wallet survives but has become a peer-to-peer payments tool and may fade into obscurity over time (TBD). But Android Pay will succeed as both an online/in-app and offline payments tool. Android Pay will work with all Android devices that contain an NFC chip (the newer ones) and run Android 4.4 or higher:Android Pay works with all NFC-enabled Android devices (running KitKat 4.4+), on any mobile carrier, at every tap and pay ready location across the US. Android Pay will support credit and debit cards from the four major payment networks: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. While only a minority of users have adopted Apple Pay — estimates range from half a million to …

Capturing jerk and jitter free videos has always been a task, be it for casual photographers or for the professional bunch who refuse to give up until they capture the perfect frame. It is but impossible to avoid movements during dynamic shots and this latest accessory on Kickstarter seems to address just that.SteadXP, is drastically different from other post processing and pre processing tools as it comes as a separate accessory which the company claims can be fitted to most of the digital cameras including GoPro, DSLRs and also professional cinematic cameras.
The secret behind SteadXP is the 3 axis stabilization bundled in a lightweight box which needs to be mounted on the camera body.  3-Axis stabilizers have been in the making for a long time but they are complex in construction and bulky in weight, the picture below shows an actual Gimbal Stabilizer setup which is obviously bigger and complicated in setup.SteadXP uses the built in accelerometer and gyroscope to record the camera’…

Get Ready For A Shift To Consumer-Centric Marketing

A recent IBM study (PDF) of 100 enterprise CMOs found that marketers are shifting customer acquisition investment from the top of the funnel to distribute it more evenly across the customer journey. This shift, which tells of a maturation of the marketer mindset — to interface with buyers as they progress through the buying journey rather than trying to grab them as they walk by the store — also speaks to the evolution of the buyer as they discover and interact with the brand across channels and devices.Source: IBM and the CMO Club This is a shift we’ve written about before, and IBM’s study that shows enterprise marketers responding to the trends now foreshadows a shift in marketer mindset that will ultimately make its way down to marketers at all levels.A Shift To Consumer-Centric MarketingSo what is this shift, and what should marketers be doing now to ready themselves and their marketing programs for what is coming? The change in thinking has marketers thinking not about the channels …

One of the standout features of some of the smartphone from the Sony Xperia line is the fact that they are waterproof. And whenever they have released a new handset, the Japanese company made sure to include some impressive press pictures showing its new Xperia devices underwater, such as the ones from below.Sony’s smartphones have a IP68 certification, which means the device can be used in up to 1.5m of water for up to 30 minutes, without being damaged. And judging by the above images, it seems that this is just enough to take some pictures with your friends while submersed. But it seems that Sony Mobile has now changed its its stance when it comes waterproof Xperia smartphones. Sony Mobile’s support page on water and dust protection has been updated and here’s how Sony’s new policy statement sounds like:“Remember not to use the device in underwater.
