VigLink Review: Make Money with Non-Monetized Blog Links

10 Best Android Apps & Games This Week [September 21st]

A whole week has passed, which means it’s time to look back and select some of the best new Android apps and games that have been published on the Google Play Store. If you’re a little behind, no worries, you can check out now the previous roundup. Now let’s have a look at this week’s new entries.Microsoft Send (Free)The Send app from Microsoft originated from the Microsoft Garage initiative and now it has become a full-fledged app available for Android users. This new app basically brings emails into a messenger interface, making it much easier to operate with them. You will only see the messages started in Send and not your entire email inbox. At the moment it only works for Office 365 subscribers but this could change in a future version.Deer Hunter 2016 (Free)I’m all against hunting animals, and I’ve always thought this to be a cruel practice. However, I have no issues with hunting games, so if you’re a lover of this genre, you definitely need to check out the latest Deer Hunter 2…

Shhh. Your Email Program Should Be A Secret Weapon

I’ve worked with several large, well-known companies. Some push the virtual envelope with their email marketing, but let’s face it — many do not. Most, even. There are a number of reasons for this lack of advancement in email strategies. Many marketers feel they simply don’t need to innovate — email is exceeding expectations, or it’s largely ignored by their leaders as a small part of their broader marketing strategy. In other cases, people in charge of email just don’t have the time for experimentation; they’re driven to get a campaign out today, tomorrow, every day.Sometimes, one major player in an industry will basically emulate the biggest competitor that’s finding success. Instead of seeking a competitive advantage, they settle for parity.Therein lies the opportunity. The reality is that when people see your email program, it’s not the symbols or the video or the fact that you show 18 products versus six that makes you stand out. That is all superficial. Those elements don’t create …

Madness Begins: Flipkart Starts Forcing App Only Purchases for Some Products

After much deliberations and dilly dallying, India’s largest ecommerce company Flipkart has moved some of the products to be available app only. This essentially means that every time consumers need to make a purchase, they need to do it with their mobile device. The move comes after Flipkart owned Myntra shifted to a complete app only mode earlier this year.India has always been on the forefront when it comes to mobile first e-commerce customers and at the hindsight the move seems obvious. The app only push in case of Myntra didn’t go well with the consumers but it seems that the buyers will eventually cave in and in the process forego a major transition in the way we shop, which is more like a steep learning curve for both the companies and the consumers.Flurry, Yahoo based mobile analytics firm had recently attributed the app only aspect to the demographics of the business, Internet in Asia for instance has been greatly surviving on the mobile first phenomena. Further more, accordi…

Gmail Ads: What’s New (And Not New) With This Native Ad Type

In March, I wrote a two-part series on Marketing Land about my experience with Gmail Sponsored Promotions (GSP) and best practices for utilizing the platform.Part 1 focused on the basics of the ad type, where it shows up, what kind of results advertisers should expect, and how to set up a campaign.Part 2 focused on strategies to build successful creative and more advanced targeting best practices. Not long after, on June 1, Google retired the original GSP platform and moved the targeting type into the AdWords interface and back into beta status. Earlier this month, GSP was finally released to all AdWords accounts with a new name, “Gmail Ads.”Much of the information from my original posts still stands. With the new platform for execution, reporting and creative, I want to revisit Gmail Ads in their current iteration. What’s changed? What hasn’t changed? And how can you best use this new advertising format to drive incremental profit? What Has Changed?Moving Gmail Ads into the AdWords int…

Big Data Makes For Better Outbound Marketing

Since HubSpot coined the term “inbound marketing” in 2005, many businesses shifted from marketing strategies focused on outbound campaigns to methods designed to bring the business to them in order to be more efficient. As is so often the case, some looked at inbound marketing and figured the new methodology meant abandoning outbound marketing tactics without analyzing how they could improve upon long-proven strategies with new capabilities. For example, big data and the development and adoption of predictive sales research solutions offer organizations a way to modernize their outbound efforts and reap greater benefits from a sales and marketing strategy that remains essential to most organizations. From Big Data To Big Business IntelligenceMarketing strategists spend hours on end wading through masses of information. Simply having that information isn’t enough, though.Outbound marketing efforts succeed when they reach the right audiences. Leveraging data collected from years of success…

OnePlus X Renders Show off a Dual Camera Setup, Fingerprint Scanner and is Expected to Cost $249

OnePlus seems to be finally thinking of expanding their smartphone lineup with another device, as confirmed by OnePlus CEO Carl Pei in an interview. Although he didn’t reveal much information about the new OnePlus, he still maintained that it would be a powerful device. Now, we have some more details to share about this upcoming new device from OnePlus.According to the tech blog GizmoChina, the new smaller OnePlus handset will be dubbed as OnePlus X and it is very clever of OnePlus to use the name ‘X’ instead of the Mini. Apart from this, the device is expected to be priced around $249 and expected to be released in October or November this year. We feel that the OnePlus X will probably be a mid-range smartphone running on Snapdragon 615 (or its equivalent) and also offers features like USB Type-C and a FHD screen.Furthermore, the Chinese Social Network Weibo has given us a first sneak peek of the device by revealing two new renders of the OnePlus X. If we go by the renders, it is but…

After Apple, Samsung Now Tipped to Launch Phone Leasing Program in the US

Apple and Samsung have been piggybacking on the premium smartphone segment globally and they have been trying out quiet a few things to spike up the sales and help users upgrade to their latest flagship, unveiled every year. Apple had recently announced its leasing plan called the iPhone Upgrade Program which would allow customers to buy the phone directly from Apple Store without any liaising with the carriers. Samsung is following Apple’s footsteps here too.The upgrade functions more like a dry lease wherein Apple will lease an unlocked phone which can be eventually used with any carrier without the tussles one needs to endure in the case of a locked up contract. The leasing plan starts from $32 and the best part is that the lessee will be able to automatically upgrade to a new iPhone every year. This leasing program is a praiseworthy move from Apple as the carriers are usually more interested in pushing their services rather than the device itself. Now with Samsung jumping on to the…

Apple is Cleaning up App Store in Wake of a Major Malware Attack

Apple has been always perceived to have set a greater degree of security measures and policies when it comes to app publishers on App Store. In fact, security is one of the reasons some buyers skip Android and go for an Apple product. This belief has taken a beating as Apple has disclosed, after several Cyber security firms aptly pointed out, that a malicious program dubbed Xcodehost was embedded in several legitimate apps. This rogue version of Xcode App would literally dupe developers and send back device information along with sensitive data back to the hackers. This would plague the otherwise good apps into data leaking taps, which would eventually give away all the user details to the hackers thus flagging a serious security concern.
The hackers found way to embed the malicious code in the targeted apps by prodding developers to use a rogue version of the XCode software, which is usually used by the developers to create iOS apps. It is still unknown if the counterfeit Xcode offere…
