Study Finds Both Widespread Programmatic Adoption And Lack Of Understanding How It Works

A new study found large gaps in the numbers of respondents that said they use programmatic (67 percent) compared to the number who say they understand how it works.Just 44 percent of advertising professionals surveyed said they have little or no understanding about how programmatic works: 63 percent of advertisers, 48 percent of agencies and 47 percent of publishers. The study authors note the paradox of high usage and low understanding: 29 percent of the ecosystem is using programmatic while knowing very little about it.Agencies will need to hone their skills. Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of respondents named knowledge of programmatic as one of the most important capabilities agencies will need to have by 2020 — rating it higher than having high levels of creativity and strong relationships with advertisers among other options.Appnexus, WARC DDMAlliance and IAB Europe commissioned the Circle Research survey of more than 1,200 advertising professionals — advertisers, media buying ag…

Our smartphone’s cameras keep getting better and better, and an important aspect has become the optical image stabilization, as more consumers are looking for their devices to produce great looking shake-free videos.Action and compact cameras are a much better solution if you’re really shooting a lot of videos, but if you want to have a gadget that would improve the stability in all your device – your smartphone, your GoPro and whatever else you might have. This seems to be the purpose of solidLUUV, a gadget that has an aspect that’s just as strange as its name. Apps Eat Digital Media Time, With Top 3 Capturing 80 Percent

Measurement firm comScore has published a new report on mobile usage and user behavior. The highest-level takeaway is that cross-platform usage is growing but there’s a divergence between reach and engagement. The desktop and mobile web have greater reach but a small number of apps command nearly all engagement. As the chart below indicates the desktop is not dead; usage has grown since 2013. But that growth is modest compared with mobile.
Sixty two percent of all digital media time is now mobile and the majority of that is in apps, which recently surpassed TV. By contrast, time spent on the desktop has plummeted to 38 percent from 49 percent since 2013.What’s interesting here is the concentration of time in apps (nearly 90 percent of mobile time) compared with their more limited audience size. The mobile web has a much larger audience, though one that’s much less engaged — comScore characterizes it as “a mile wide and an inch deep.”As has been widely reported before Facebook is the top…

Instant App Puts your Life on a Dashboard as it Tracks all your Activities Automatically

Our smartphones are called like that because we can rely on them for a wide range of features, and this makes us dependent of their multifunctionality. We use them to search for information, to check out friends’ pictures from their recent trip, as fitness trackers and whatnot. And when we spend so much times glued to our devices, it becomes interesting to know what exactly have we done the entire day. Luckily for the curious out there, there’s a really nice app that’s available for both iPhone and Android users, called Instant- Quantified Self. This is the first app developed by Emberify, a developing team which is also a winner of the Google Fit developer challenge.Described as an app that puts ‘your life on a dashboard, Instant track all your activities automatically and then brings out a report similar to the above image. If you’re new to lifelogging apps, then you’re familiar with this concept, but if you’re just hearing this, then this app is worth trying out thanks to its easine…

The Social Media Shiny Object Syndrome

Whether you’re an entrepreneur, business owner, content marketer, any or none of the above, you will eventually be faced with a very serious conundrum: Which social media platforms should you have a presence on?Pinterest!Facebook, of course!LinkedIn! Twitter for sure!Reddit…Tumblr…InstagramSnapChatFlickrFoursquareOrkut…and on and on.It’s very tempting to be on all the major networks at once, plus a few niche ones, too. You naturally think you can maximize your reach that way.The more social platforms you’re on, the more people you can reach and hopefully gain business from. Right?Well, not necessarily. This mindset, dear reader, is a trap. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say that it’s an illness among many people in business who are beginning or expanding their social media presence. This need to “be everywhere” is also known by its scientific name, The Social Media Shiny Object Syndrome. It afflicts businesses young and old, large and small. Its symptoms are wanting to be everywhere at …

LG V10 is an Upcoming Smartphone with a Regular Display Along with a Ticker

Phone makers these days don’t innovative too much when it comes to the design of their handsets, and there are plenty out there who simply copy the design cues that have proved to be successful for the world’s most desirable smartphone, the iPhone.Of course, there are such products as the Galaxy Edge or the YotaPhone, but these are just a few and they don’t really matter when compared to the vast majority of phones. But it’s still nice to see that these companies are trying to come up with products that are distinctive.LG is apparently trying to come up with an unusual concept, as well, as you can see from this image that has been leaked online by well-connected tipster evleaks. The handset is believed to pack a second ticker display just above the main screen. As we can see from this image, the ticker display above it features shortcuts to various apps and system functions, such as Facebook, Twitter, contacts, messages, WhatsApp and others. The secondary display is believed to be touc…

Ad Blocking: Simply A Symptom Of Advertising’s Lack Of Creativity

This summer, my wife began binge-watching the show, “Parenthood.” Luckily for her (though not us advertising folks), the first four seasons were available to watch ad-free on Netflix. Season 5, however, is not available yet on Netflix, so she is now watching it on Hulu — commercials and all. (The horror!)She recently said to me, “I feel like I’m in purgatory from all the years of skipping ads that I’ve done.” To make matters worse, she has become astutely aware that the same commercials seem to play over and over again. As her loving husband, I completely empathize with her. But as the CEO of a consultancy which supports the content monetization and revenue strategy efforts of major media publishers, I see my wife’s frustration — which is shared by most consumers of content — as an opportunity for our industry to do better. Her point made me wonder: Is all of the controversy about ad blocking really just about a lack of creativity in advertising? Have we focused too heavily on the “tech…

Brandwatch Unveils Social Indices, A Ranking Of Brands’ Social Strength

Social intelligence company Brandwatch today introduced a new way to compare brands’ social media efforts. The company will release monthly rankings — Social Indices — for brands in the retail, nonprofit, healthcare and TV network categories, hoping to fill what Brandwatch CMO Will McInnes says is a void.“Today, there is no definitive ranking of the best social brands in the world and, in truth, without a uniform methodology for measuring human interaction there may never be,” McInnes said in a statement. “We’ve created the Brandwatch Social Indices to encourage brands to think about their social strategies and spark conversations about how we, as an industry, gauge social interaction.”Brandwatch picked well-established brands to populate the indices and is measuring across five criteria:Social Visibility: The volume of conversation a brand generates across key social channels.General Visibility: The volume of conversation a brand generates on blogs, forums and news sites.Net Sentiment…

You can now Block Specific Email Addresses and Unsubscribe from Newsletters in Gmail

There are millions out there who rely on Gmail as their main email client, and I’m sure that for many out there, including myself, it is an essential tool in our daily activities. So it is Google’s responsibility to make sure their product is getting frequent and useful updates. And such seems to be the case with this fresh announcement. Google has added a new feature to Gmail, allowing users to block specific email addresses very easily. The new option will first start rolling out for Gmail on the Web, and it will make its way on the Android app “over the next week.”The block sender option puts the email address into a block list and make sure that all future emails will go in the spam folder. Whenever you change your mind, you can unblock the sender in Gmail’s settings.I personally am very happy that this feature is finally here, as the ‘report spam’ didn’t always work as it should have. Let’s just hope that it will prove to be much more efficient. The option to unsubscribe directly i…

Meizu PRO 5 with 5.7-inch Screen, Exynos 7420 and 4GB RAM is Now Official

There were very little details not known about this phone, but the Meizu PRO 5 has been officially announced. At an event in Beijing, China, the company unveiled its newest smartphone which is one of the first non-Samsung smartphones to come with the 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor clocked at 2.5 GHz.The Meizu PRO 5 continues the company’s tradition of releasing flagships without Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. Much like OnePlus, Meizu has stuck to Full HD display on the PRO 5 without going for the QHD screens which have become a norm for flagships these days. The Meizu PRO 5 has an all metallic build like its predecessor, the MX 5. In the imaging department, the phone sports a 21 megapixel camera module at the rear with laser auto focus accompanied by a 5MP camera on the front front. The phone runs on Flyme 5 that is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The 5.7-inch screen is a Super AMOLED 2.5D display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. There are two variants of Meizu PR…

Google for the first time will be offering two variants of its Nexus phone, one of which will come with 5.2-inch display and the other with the larger 5.7-inch display. The small screened varient will most likely be dubbed as Nexus 5X while the other one is named Nexus 6P. Both the Nexus phones will be launched in an event in California next week, on September 29 and we have a fair idea on how the devices might look, thanks to the series of leaks that had surfaced earlier. In the meanwhile, LG seems to have jumped the gun and listed Nexus 5X on Amazon India. The listing shows off LG Nexus 5X in three different color options (Quartz White, Ice Blue and Charcoal Black) but with the same 16GB memory option. As per the listing, the Nexus 5X will come with a 5.2-inch FHD display at a pixel density of 423ppi. How To Allow Image Uploads In Default WordPress Comments

The comments section of a blog is important to gauge the ability of your content to engage an audience. While the usual way of commenting involves typing text in a field, there are now other forms of media that can be included in comments, including image files. For whatever purpose, you may want to allow your blog or website visitors to include images with their comments. Images on comments can help users express their thoughts or convey their message with more than just words. It’s also necessary when you want your commenters to include a screenshot with their comment.Thankfully, you don’t have to mess with your website’s CSS to add this function. This is can be done quite simply by installing a certain plugin to your WordPress blog. I’ve found two plugins for this, and although both of them gets the job done, they have different features that you may need to compare before deciding which one to install.2 Free WordPress Plugins to let Readers Upload Image in Comment section:Comment I…
