Pinterest Opens API Platform To All Developers

Pinterest is throwing open its API sandbox to all developers. This summer the social bookmarking network gave API access to selected developers, leading to integrations with Polyvore, IFTTT and, this month, Topshop.Today, the company announced that developers no longer need to be pre-approved to start working with the levers to integrate Pinterest with their sites and apps. Pinterest software engineer Zack Argyle explained in a blog post:Once you’ve read and agreed to our terms and policies, you’ll be able to add a select number of testers and collaborators to help you build your app. After someone authenticates, you’ll get access to their Pins, boards, profiles and follows. If you have the ID of the object, you can retrieve its information—otherwise, you can fetch info for authenticated users. When third-party apps are ready to launch publicly, developers need to submit them to Pinterest for review and approval. Benchmark Reveals Rumored OnePlus Mini to get Mediatek Helio X10, 2GB RAM and 13MP Camera

Before the OnePlus 2 was unveiled, there have been various rumors which were suggesting that OnePlus would actually launch two new smartphones – a main one and one that would be focused on design features. That wasn’t the case and we only saw the OnePlus 2 being unveiled, alone and with a higher price than the first generation. Recently, it has been speculated that OnePlus is already working on a second handset meant to reach the market before 2015, and now we have fresh proof towards that. The above image shows the results of an AnTuTu benchmark run allegedly performed on a OnePlus phone codenamed as ‘ A2301’. The test has revealed some quite decent specs, which are slightly below what the OnePlus 2 has to offer. And this is one of the reasons why we can speculate that the device in question is actually the OnePlus Mini. Here are the specs that it could sport:1080 x 1920 pixels resolutionOcta-core MediaTek MT6795T processor clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with a PowerVR Rogue G6200 series GP…

Forget Razor, Use Skarp to Shave with Laser Instead!

Grooming for men hasn’t changed much for years, especially for daily shaving needs we still use the same old shaving kit. If you are wondering what would one possibly do to except change the blade arrangements and fiddle with other minor things, here is a cool new startup for you. Skarp is a piece of gadgetry from future which is so futuristic, that it feels like something pulled out straight from a science fiction. The Skarp is your very own Laser shaving kit that uses a certain wavelength to shave the hairs without even actually touching the skin surface. Skarp’s prototypes are chiseled out of 6061 grade aluminium and as we said earlier, the design looks out of this world, specially for a shaving razor. Skarp is the brainchild of Morgan Gustavsson who has been working in medical and cosmetic laser industry for the past three decades, in fact he claims to be the one who invented IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) in 1989 which still maintains to be one of the most preferred method of hair rem…

Brand To Demand: How Intent Data Is Breaking Down The Silos

There is a popular commercial for the candy bar Twix that shows two adversarial Twix factories that take different approaches to making the same product. The copy implores the viewer to “pick a side,” which of course is ludicrous because each side of a Twix bar is the same product. It’s a manufactured controversy that, for B2B marketers, evokes inefficiency — and perhaps shades of what they experience between the brand and demand teams within their own marketing departments.Unfortunately, too many B2B marketers have created a similar schism with the way that they structure their brand strategy and their demand generation strategy. As media continues to consolidate and marketers begin focusing on customers themselves instead of merely their job titles, the separation between the two objectives no longer makes sense.B2B marketers are looking for more cohesive strategies, and with some subtle but important changes, any B2B marketer can achieve efficient and effective marketing through a br…

HTC Aero is an Upcoming Mid-range Phone with a 1080p Display, Snapdragon 617 and iPhone 6 Design Lines

Things haven’t been quite great recently for HTC, and it seems that the Taiwanese company is trying hard to keep its business floating. One of the measures could involve a change in the naming scheme, with one future device allegedly going to be called simply HTC O2.Recently the web has been abuzz with rumors and leaks related to an upcoming smartphone, which is currently known as HTC Aero. And what makes this current leak significant is that it shows a clear look at how the device is going to look like. So, as we can see, this is yet another smartphone maker that has decided to adopt the design language of the iPhone 6. In my humble opinion, this is a desperate measure and could help HTC only with momentary increases in sales, but on the long run, it won’t help the company differentiate itself from the rest.Furthermore, according to another leak from evleaks, it seems that HTC will insist with its HTC One line of products, as the full name of this device is actually HTC One A9.By the …

Seniors On Social? YEP! Psychographic Targeting Hot House

Sometimes the conventional wisdom can get you in trouble. “My B2B audience isn’t on social” is one piece of conventional wisdom that, thankfully, has finally been put out to pasture (at least by companies savvy enough to know better). Conventional wisdom might also say to focus your online advertising efforts on younger generations who are most accustomed and most likely to spend money online. While there is data to back up that assumption – consumers aged 18-34 do spend the most money online – experienced digital marketers know that with the right targeting every audience is reachable. In this week’s edition of the Targeting Hot House, we’ll look at ways to turn the conventional wisdom on its ear and find retirees in the wonderful world of Facebook advertising.Behavior & Demographic StrategiesYou wouldn’t think being retired has a job title, because the key factor in being retired is to not have a job. But Facebook lets users set their own job title, and a lot of retirees like to …

Xiaomi is Officially Prepping up its First laptop, Will Begin Shipping by First Half of 2016

Xiaomi has been undoubtedly one of those companies which is trying to come up with products which are radically different and yet don’t lose out on their relevancy. The company has tried it all from air-purifiers to smart weighing scales, now it seems that the company wants to further fortify the Xiaomi ecosystem by introducing its first laptop.Rumor mills have been predicting this move from quiet some time but on this Wednesday, Richard Lee, chairman of laptop manufacturer Inventec said that the company would be assembling Xiaomi’s first laptops which will be shipped starting the first two quarters of 2016. He further also expressed his delight at the fact that Xiaomi already has a 200-million strong registered smartphone users, which will sort of create a baseline for the company to pitch their products.Xiaomi has never ceased to surprise us, be it the uber affordable Mi 3 they released a couple of years ago or the current crop of high performing mid range phones announced in the re…

How to Change a Picture’s Date in Google Photos

Casey Smith uploaded a bunch of scanned images on Google Photos but they are showing the date when the scan was made and not when the pictures were captured. She writes: “Do you have any recommendation on how to re-date pictures that are not appropriately dated? I have a ridiculous amount of photos that are dated as of the date I added them to Google Pictures as opposed to the date they were actually taken. It’s driving me nuts. Any advise?”There are two ways to deal with the problem. You can either change the date of photos before uploading them to Google Photos or do it after the photos are uploaded. The former option is recommended since it will let you modify the date and time of multiple photos in one go while the latter option would allow you to edit the timestamp of one image at a time. Both Windows Photos Gallery and Apple Photos for Mac OS X allow you to easily edit a photo’s date and time. Open Photo Gallery on Windows, select one or more pictures by holding the CTRL key, cli…

Wendy’s Challenges BBQ Fans To #CrackTheMasters In Interactive Video Ads For Limited-Time Pulled Pork Offerings

They’re not likely to win over any Texans, who know that beef is the true foundation of good barbecue (disclosure: the author is based in the Lone Star State), but Wendy’s is taking a shot with a new integrated interactive effort promoting limited-time pulled pork menu items.Kansas City-based VML, Wendy’s digital agency of record, wanted to go beyond the lean-back experience that video ads typically offer, and therefore conceived of a “choose your own adventure”-style creative called #CrackTheMasters.“We did want to engage our audience in a more interactive way instead of just exposing them passively to video content,” Chris Corley, group creative director at VML, told me.The resulting video, which is appearing in organic and paid placements on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, introduces viewers to three pitmasters with differing styles: Sauce Master, Smoke Master, and Hip Master.“The perfect state for us as advertisers is to have our television lead to a deeper digital experience becau…
