Ringo, the low cost calling app has been officially launched in India. The app will let users call anyone across the country at a flat rate of 19 paise per minute, without any distinction for STD, roaming or off net calls. The best part of the deal is the fact that unlike other VOIP services, Ringo uses telephone network and it doesn’t need internet for the phone call, thus it will also help you save the extra data charges that incur while using other VOIP apps.Ringo claims that it will help you save up to 90% on your tariffs and it can also make calls to the recipients even if they don’t have the application installed. Samsung Galaxy A9 Listed on Company’s Associate Website, Hints at an Imminent Launch

The Samsung Galaxy A9 has been churning the rumor mills from quiet some time and now the phone has been listed on the company’s Iran website. In fact, it’s the website of the official representative of Samsung in Iran. The listing page gives away most of the details about the Galaxy A9 but still withholds the pricing details. The Galaxy A9 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch FHD display and will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 620 and glued with 3GB of RAM. On the imaging front, the Galaxy A9 is fitted with a 16-Megapixel primary camera sensor and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. The camera app touts the usual bunch of features including smile detection, geo-tagging and the Touch Focus. The Galaxy A9 will be offering a rather generous 32GB of internal storage along with a memory card slot that supports an additional 128GB.Just like most of the recent Samsung phones, the Galaxy A9 comes draped in metal, the phone seems to employ an unibody construction which indicates at non remov…

The Skin Show: Biometric Tattoo Aims to be the Next Big Thing for Wearables

Wearables are continuously evolving but the way we wear them remains the same. I have been hooked to a fitness tracker for almost a month and sometime find it as an unnecessary thing clinging to my skin and not to mention the inconvenience it causes while working. Chaotic Moon, a Texas based software design and development company seems to have worked on this aspect of the wearables and has readied a tattoo made out of hardware components and conductive paint to be etched on the skin along with the circuitry. The Chaotic Moon’s innovation is still at infancy but it can still collect and upload health and informational data. The CEO, Ben Lamm told TechCrunch that “The future of wearables is bio wearables.”Since it cannot be removed easily like other fitness trackers, the Tech tats (that’s what they prefer to call these Cyborg Tattoos!) can be used for military purposes to collect the data and send it back. The tattoo is temporary in nature just like those old tattoos we used to fancy wh…

Disappearing Act: Twitter Pulls Share Counts From Tweet Buttons

One of Twitter’s social proofs has gone poof.On Friday, Twitter stopped displaying share counts on its tweet buttons, officially pulling the plug on one of the ways publishers signal the popularity of content. Twitter had announced the move in October, saying that it needed to make the change to consolidate and simplify its platform and that the API endpoint used to serve the count was unofficial and not entirely accurate. After the shutdown, Twitter share totals disappeared from sites that include social buttons with share totals, including Slate, the Huffington Post, Entertainment Weekly and multitudes of smaller organizations. One least one publisher was caught by surprise. “We want that count back,” Slate vice chairman Dan Check told Digiday. “It’s meaningful to us. Having share counts along with comment counts is a strong way to underline that there’s a conversation around what we’ve written. We want to signal to readers that that conversation is happening.”Others took to Twitter t…

App Developers To Europe: Don’t Hurt Google’s Ability To “Improve” Android

A group of roughly 140 Android developers under the coordination of an organization called the Application Developers Alliance is appealing to the European Commission not to take any action that could diminish Google’s control over the OS and contribute to Android fragmentation. The Commission is currently investigating whether Google has violated antitrust rules with its management of Android.A letter from the developers to the head of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager, asks that no action be taken that would “stop Google from improving” Android and the Google Play ecosystem. In part it reads:We understand the European Commission is reviewing many of Google’s business activities in the mobile industry, but we write about only one: the concern that Google may have harmed the mobile ecosystem by its efforts to harmonize and unify the Android OS and Android environment. It would be disastrous for developers (and consumers) if you stop Google from improving the Android and Goog…

2016: Manual Link Building & SEO

We’re edging ever closer to 2016, and already prediction posts are publishing.Recently, hoopla around manual link building arose when a 2016-focused post predicted its demise. My fellow columnist Eric Ward shared his thoughts on why manual link building will never be obsolete. I suggest you read his post — he’s experienced, insightful and basically the godfather of link building. If you’re interested in SEO and links, you should be aware of what Ward has to say on the matter.I agree with Ward that manual link building will continue to play a vital role in SEO — and search as a channel — into 2016 and beyond. Without the intentional, strategic pursuit of links, you’re missing out on search as a channel and leaving marketing opportunities on the table.Today, I’m going to share my perspective on why manual link acquisition will continue to be important. I work for an agency serving nearly a hundred clients of all sizes, and our primary work is manual link building. It’s a topic near and …

Kantar-Shopcom And 4Info Partnership Offers Look At Future Of Retail Analytics

Mobile advertising platform 4INFO has announced a deal with shopper targeting and analytics provider Kantar Shopcom. It offers brands the ability to measure the incremental impact of digital media on in-store sales at the SKU-level.A number of companies, including Google, are now measuring store visits after exposure to digital ads. The Kantar-4INFO relationship involves tracking the impact of ads on in-store sales by product category (e.g., 501 jeans). Facebook also has an offline sales tracking capability with Conversion Lift Measurement and Custom Audiences.Kantar Shopcom has aggregated sales data, which it purchases from retailers, and can match that data with household and device data captured and maintained by 4INFO. Like some of the others tracking online to offline visits, the methodology is “control and exposed.” Kantar and 4INFO work with brands to target and measure impact for individual campaigns. The partnership can tell brands such as Levi’s, hypothetically, which online …

What To Do When Traffic Doesn’t Equal Sales

Attend any SEO conference and the conversation around metrics and KPIs inevitably comes up. What should I measure? How do I calculate ROI? How do I prove my value? These are obviously good questions, and my response is always the same: money. As digital marketers, we have the ability to track our efforts through tools like analytics, and while perhaps we can’t track every single thing, technology has certainly enabled us to track the majority of what we do online. The challenge with this is that sometimes we find we don’t like what the data have to say. Sometimes, all of the work we’ve put in doesn’t translate into what matters. Traffic doesn’t translate into money. And that’s a problem. To be honest, there can be any number of reasons why people are coming to your site but not converting. For example, the site may be slow, the landing page may not be relevant, or perhaps the landing page isn’t optimized for the right part of the buying cycle. But often there’s more to it.So what do you d…

Twitter Adds More Choices To Native Polls

rvlsoft / Shutterstock.com Twitter is giving poll-makers more choices. At launch in October, Twitter polls were limited to two answers. Today, the company is giving people the ability to add a third and fourth option for people to vote on, as this timely poll from Twitter shows:Save us a seat for dinner, @foodandwine: https://t.co/j6ubWrmnIu Best ingredient for an amazing #Thanksgiving?— Twitter (@twitter) November 25, 2015 The rest of the polling functionality appears to be the same. After the poll closes, people who have voted receive a notification with a link taking them back to see the final results.Twitter said the new feature is rolling out today on iOS, Android and the web.
