Twitter Is Now Displaying Fuller Versions Of Photos In Your Web Feed

Twitter is dropping the crop.Starting today, the social media network will display fuller versions of photos in Twitter users’ web feeds. That means an end to awkward crops that cut off people’s heads or zeroed in on inappropriate parts of images. Now square and landscape photos will display fully in feeds, instead of requiring a click to see the entire image. It’s very good news for people and marketers who post a lot of photos and who no longer will have to worry about re-cropping images that appear oddly on Twitter. The move is another in a string of Twitter efforts to shift beyond its text-based beginnings into a multimedia platform. Last January it gave people the ability to upload video to the network and more recently made video autoplaying. This fall it launched “Moments,” which presents events and Twitter-fueled narratives in a visually-focused way.In today’s update, Twitter also revamped its multi-photo display. Previously, it showed up to four photos with rectangular crops, a…

5 Things New Advertisers Need To Know About Google AdWords Campaign Settings

The vast majority of experienced paid search advertisers fully understand Google AdWords campaign settings. However, these settings often go unnoticed by novice advertisers.Simply being aware of these settings and their implications can save advertisers hundreds to thousands of dollars out of the gate. In this article, I’ll cover five tips for new advertisers related to Google AdWords settings.1. Stick With “Search Network Only” (To Start)First and foremost, when setting up your Search Network campaign within the Google AdWords interface, I would recommend against going with the Search Network with Display Select option, which Google advises is the “Best opportunity to reach the most customers.”Stick with the Search Network only option to start (i.e., Google search and search partners), especially if you’re not an experienced advertiser on the Google Display Network. The Display Network will spend your budget extremely fast if the right controls are not applied.[Read the full article …

SEO So Simple A Child Can Do It: In 5 Easy Steps

As it turns out, I’m not the only Search Engine Optimization (SEO) professional in the family. At 14, my daughter Chloe started creating a passive income stream, enviable to most teenagers, of up to $1,100 per month. She did it with only a few ingredients: a WordPress blog, a Google AdSense account and some basic SEO knowledge.Like many young teenagers at the time (which was about 10 years ago), she was obsessed with the Nickelodeon-owned “virtual pet” website Neopets.com. So, like any enterprising young internet entrepreneur, she started a fan site, at NeopetsFanatic.com, and monetized it.She researched profitable keyword niches like game cheats, avatars, neopoints and so on. Then she developed content around those niches. After that, she started building buzz and links, leveraging the angle that here’s a kid doing SEO. It doesn’t take very many bloggers picking up on that before you get traction in the Google results.Pretty soon, she was getting enough visitors to make consistent mo…

Unlocking The Hidden Value Of Dynamic Number Insertion

Dynamic number insertion (DNI) technology, often referred to as keyword-level call tracking, has been around for a while, with marketers effectively using it as an attribution tool for digital advertising. At its basic level, DNI involves replacing phone numbers within landing pages and websites based on how the person found the site. The technology allows marketers to track and attribute phone leads back to the ads, search listings or keywords that were used to generate engagement. However, this is just scratching the surface of DNI’s capabilities. As today’s search marketers are seeking to generate more qualified inbound calls, they realize the need to customize the customer’s experience to drive higher and more targeted consumer responses. DNI can help meet this demand by leveraging deeper insights into the consumer behavior that drove their searches or clicks and how they are responding to ads.Following are some ways that marketers can further extend their DNI investments beyond key…

The Best USD 375 (Rs 25,000) Phone? OnePlus 2 vs Google Nexus 5X

A few weeks ago, the very idea of comparing the OnePlus 2 and the Nexus 5X would have seemed ridiculous. After all, they were separated by a significant price gulf – the Nexus 5X was launched at Rs 31,900 while the OnePlus 2 was priced at Rs 24,999. However, recent price cuts to the Nexus 5X (which LG insists are not official) have brought it to a price point that is actually below that of the OnePlus 2. Which has led to some anointing it as the best smartphone below the Rs 25,000 (USD 375) price point, a place that was previously occupied by the OnePlus 2. Which in turn has led to a spate of “should I buy a OnePlus 2 or a Nexus 5X?” queries. Well, here is our attempt at answering that.AppearanceIn terms of looks and design, this is pretty much a no-contest. The OnePlus 2 is actually slightly larger than the Nexus 5X – its proportions are 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.9 mm as compared to the 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm of the 5X – but has a much more premium feel to it thanks to its metal frame and that i…

Google Play Store’s Roundup of Best Apps and Games of 2015 is Here

It is year end and apart from Christmas, yet another exciting thing is the Google’s round up of best apps. Although the chances are that we might have already been using some of these apps, still it is exciting to see which app makes the cut and which gets left behind. The Play Store roundup will hoist categories like the Best Apps list, Best Games, Top Selling movies and Top Selling books. The Best Apps category has choosen Twitter, Swiftkey, Instacart and Trulia among a bunch of other applications inclusive of Nova Launcher, Action Launcher 3 and My Very Hungry Caterpillar.Surprisingly, Google’s very own Docs was overtaken by Microsoft Word and Office. The YouTube Gaming rival, Twitch also made it to the hall of fame. Moving on to the games section, the titles were a mixture of all genres and less graphic intense games were the ones ruling the roost. Games like Alphabear, Hearthstone Heroes of Warcraft, Fallout Shelter and the new titles like Prune and Crossy Road also made it to th…

Google Owned DoubleClick Unveils Native Ads Aimed at Defeating the Ad Blockers

Ad-Blockers have been creating quiet a hoopla in the recent times, while publishers are terming it up as something that could dry off their revenue streams, the ad-blockers are terming it as a necessary evil. While the debate and discussions on this topic can extend up to infinity, DoubleClick a Google owned ad-serving giant has pulled the wraps from a native ads platform aimed at defeating the ad-blockers.This move comes at a time when publishers are pondering up on new ways to score revenues since a major chunk of it is being slowly depleted. With the inclusion of ad-blockers in iOS 9 the threat has been looming large over the publishers. Most of the free mobile apps have been relying up on the ads for their revenue and ad-blockers are even blocking these ads out. On the contrary, there are many websites who have been insensitive about the readers tastes and dishing out full screen ads thus impairing the readability of the website. This is an issue which can possibly be tackled by r…
