Web-Based Eye-Tracker Sticky Now Can Track Your Emotions As Well

What marketers really want is to literally see and feel what their customers and potential customers are seeing and feeling.Today, visual engagement analytics platform Sticky takes a step closer to that goal, with the addition of emotional tracking to its eye-tracking services. The New York City-based company’s clients include AOL and Orbitz.Called AdEmotion, the new capability — being released as an open beta — tracks dozens of points on a face to analyze micro-expressions and other facial movements that can depict emotional states. Test subjects opt-in to having their images taken and analyzed through the webcam, remotely or in a lab.Sticky has previously employed eye-tracking to provide insight about where customers’ attention is directed. It was initially funded by eye-tracking firm Tobii in 2009 to implement the Sweden-based company’s infrared eye tracking through a webcam using regular video and still images, and the resulting product was launched in 2011.Eye-tracking is useful …

How Facial-Recognition Software Will Shape The Future Of Email Marketing

Advancements in software and programming are making technologies like Iron Man’s bionic suit or Marty McFly’s hoverboard possible. Are Email Marketers Ready For The Big Screen? So how does this affect email marketing? Well, as technologies move closer to what big-time movie producers dream up, some of this tech will help marketers more effectively reach consumers.Heading into 2016, one of the most exciting advancements is facial-recognition software.Just last month, I was in Washington to discuss the future of privacy and technology with one of President Barack Obama’s principal advisors. …

Software Review Site TrustRadius Has A New Way to Treat Reviews Obtained Through Vendors

Online user reviews are the most powerful marketing technique for influencing purchase decisions. But do they accurately represent the views of most users?Today, business software review platform TrustRadius is announcing a new way — called trScore — to handle the bias introduced in reviews by users obtained through the vendor of the reviewed software product. The site says more than two million software buyers visit each year to check out its product reviews. To understand trScore, let’s first look at TrustRadius’ approach. The site says it authenticates all users through their LinkedIn profiles. It also requires users to answer eight to ten questions about the product, in order to weed out users having no familiarity. Additionally, a staff person reads every review before it is posted, and the site says about three percent of reviews are rejected for not meeting guidelines. As for the reviews themselves, TrustRadius puts them into two main buckets: independently-sourced reviews and ven…

HTC One A9 Available in India for Rs 29,990 ($450), Exclusively on Snapdeal

HTC seems to have struck the right notes with the One A9 and the same will be made available exclusively on Snapdeal priced at Rs 29,990. This is the same phone which was earlier ridiculed for the resemblance in design with the iPhone 6 and yet it did manage to impress some with its high end specs and features. HTC seems to be betting on both the Tier 1 and the Tier 2 cities to achieve the sales target. The One A9 is fitted with an edge-to-edge 5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D corning Gorilla Glass 4 and the body is finished in Metal. Folks who have had a chance to check out the phone said that although the phone resembles iPhone in the pictures it sure did feel a tad bit different when held in hands. On the imaging front, the One A9 boasts of a 13-Megapixel primary sensor along with imaging centric features like Optical Image Stabilisation. The front camera shapes up in the form of an UltraPixel sensor. To shutterbugs’ delight, HTC has included a PRO mode which allows users to capture…

Surprise! Apple Strengthens its Accessory Lineup with a Smart Battery Case for iPhone 6s

Apple never seemed to be that interested in making the accessories for the iPhone themselves, or we thought so. In a rather unprecedented move, Apple has announced an external battery case for the iPhone 6s called the iPhone 6s Smart Battery Case. The company claims that this will increase the battery life of your iPhone 6s by 25 hours but they seem in no mood to reveal the battery capacity. The battery case is made up of silicon and the material is similar to the other traditional cases. The case uses a lightning male port at the bottom to plug in the iPhone and the case can be in turn charged with the usual traditional Lightning cable, unlike the other third party batteries which usually come with a microUSB port. The good part however is that the case is expected to work with even the iPhone 6 but as of now we couldn’t see the battery extender for iPhone 6s Plus or the 6 Plus. The battery case is definitely going to affect the aesthetics of your iPhone. If you thought that the protru…

iPhone Tiny Tip: Quickly Open Cellular Settings Page from Notification Center

I recently switched to an iPhone as my daily driver. This is my second switch across the pond, after close to a year in the land of the droid. I’m settling in, slowly. I’m enjoying the thoughtfully designed reading apps, and the indie puzzle games that only seem to exist on iOS.But I’ve been constantly frustrated by one simple thing over the past week. That’s turning on 3G when I step out. I’m not one of those people who keeps 3G turned on all the time (battery anxiety). So I have to do it manually. In Android, it’s as easy as swiping down the notification drawer and tapping the “Data” button. On iOS, though, I never got used to searching for the Settings app, and navigating two more menus. This morning, however, I saw a light. In the form of Notification Center widgets. Like most great discoveries of our time, this too was accidental. I wanted to add a calendar to the Today view in Notification Center and discovered something awesome.Wdgts, my app of choice for all things NC widgets (c…

Review: YU Yunique – THIS Should Have Been Android One

First off, our apologies for the delay in this review. The Yunique has been in the market for a while now, and has even become among the first YU devices to be available offline in this period. In fact, it is even one of the rare devices that has received a price spike since its release (heavens, even the Google Nexus got a price cut). The fact, however, remains that it is still relevant, which is the reason why you are reading this.Permit us to digress for a bit, though, and take you back to late 2014. Google had launched the Android One initiative if you remember, aiming to deliver the pure Android experience at a very affordable price. The initiative had mixed results for a number of reasons, but primary among them was the fact that other manufacturers had upped the ante in the specs-price game, and while the Android One range did offer decent value for money, there were others (most notably the Moto E and the Xiaomi Redmi 1s) who were seen to be delivering as much, if not more, fo…

Only 9% of the KickStarter Projects Fail, Says the University of Pennsylvania Report

Kickstarter has been providing us with the daily fixes of innovation spread across various industries and genres. The projects are so out of the box that it becomes hard for us to believe in them. The advice “Kickstarter projects usually don’t see the light after being funded” is something that we all are used to hearing. Now Kickstarter, instead of sitting back, has co-published an independent analysis by the University of Pennsylvania called the “Fulfillment Report”The number of people/projects that fall short of delivering to the backers’ expectations is a number that we all have fun speculating about, though many of us choose to write off the project with the assumption that they won’t make the cut. The new report we are talking about has some interesting tidbits which sheds light on the status of the projects and the money pledged across different categories. The study will be one of the largest of its kind on the Kickstarter and the company claims that it has no influence over it…

Filmomat is a Fully Automated Photo Processor that Doesn’t Require a Dark Room

Last time around we had featured a small scale paper recycling machine that would chew the waste papers from Office and recycle them instantly. Now another interesting piece of innovation has shaped up in the form of Filmomat, a machine that can process the film negatives at home without the need for a dark room. The device has a 6-litre water tank along with the bath area, chemical tanks and two dedicated development tanks. The first step involves filling up the tank and the water bath with fresh water. It has to be noted that the device is completely autonomous and it in fact comes with a 50-process memory which will let you define different processes and also save them with a unique ID. The process feature will facilitate greater control for the users as they can toggle all the settings and can also save presets for future use.The film is then spooled into a common film spool and placed inside the developing tank. Now the user needs to pour the required chemicals into these three ta…
