Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Launched in India, Priced at Rs 9,999 for 2GB/16GB Variant and Rs 11,999 for the 3GB/32GB Variant

Xiaomi seems to be back on track and is expanding its line-up aggressively, in January Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 3 in China and now they have launched the same in India. Priced at Rs 9,999 for the base variant the Redmi Note 3 seems to be a great value for money proposition and will rival the likes of LeEco Le 1s.

The Redmi Note 3 comes powered with the Snapdragon 650 along with a X8 LTE modem. Redmi Note 3 comes in two variants, one with a 2GBRAM/16GB Storage combo and another with 3GB RAM/32GB storage. The 5.5-inch FHD display boasts of a reading mode which will reduce the blue light and make a switch to the ambient level for increased reading comforts. Xiaomi’s design language has also been changed with the Redmi Note 3 as it comes clad in a metal body and with sleeker design lines.

Xiaomi claims that the Redmi Note 3 scores a whopping 77,592 on AnTuTu benchmarks which is more than some of the phones powered by Snapdragon 810. This improvement in performance seems to be a direct result of the new Arm-A72 Cores and the improvised core management by the big.LITTLE architecture.

Other features include a Fingerprint scanner at the back, MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop 5.1, VoLTE support and 4050mAh battery with QuickCharge 2.0 support and micro-USB. On the imaging front the Redmi Note 3 comes equipped with a 16-Megapixel PDAF primary sensor with larger f/2.0 and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. The device comes with usual set of connectivity features including dual-SIM 4G LTE support, VoLTE and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

Xiaomi had been lying low lately with very few new devices on the offering, the company however came back to form after it released the Mi 5 Flagship for the Chinese market, which by the way is expected for the Indian markets soon. The registrations for the Redmi Note 3 starts on and the first flash sale on March 9th. The Redmi Note 3 is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 2GB/16GB variant and Rs 11,999 for the 3GB RAM/32GB variant and will be sold exclusively through Amazon and The phone retails in Dark Grey, Silver and Gold colors. Eventually it will be available across online and offline retail channels.

How to Get SMS Alerts for Gmail via Twitter

How do you get SMS notifications on your mobile phone for important emails in your Gmail? Google doesn’t support text notifications for their email service but Twitter does. If we can figure out a way to connect our Twitter and Gmail accounts, the Gmail notifications can arrive as text on our mobile via Twitter. Let me explain:Twitter allows you to follow any @user via a simple SMS. They provide short codes for all countries (see list) and if you text FOLLOW to this shortcode following by the  username, any tweets from that user will arrive in your phone as text notifications. For instance, if you are in the US, you can tweet FOLLOW labnol to 40404 to get my tweets as text messages. Similarly, users in India can text FOLLOW labnol to 9248948837 to get the tweets via SMS.The short code service of Twitter can act as a Gmail SMS notifier. You create a new Twitter account, set the privacy to private and this account will send a tweet when you get a new email in Gmail. Follow this account …

Instagram Story links get 15-25% swipe-through rates for brands, publishers

Instagram may arrived late as a traffic source for brands and publishers, but it’s already showing early signs of success, driving new visitors to their sites and even outperforming its parent company, Facebook. For years brands, publishers and other have tried to push people from the Facebook-owned photo-and-video-sharing app to their sites. Outside of ads and excepting a recent test with some retailers, Instagram didn’t offer much help to companies looking to use it to drive traffic. So they had to find workarounds. They put links in their Instagram bios. They scrawled short-code URLs onto their pictures. And they typed out links in their captions. Then last month Instagram finally introduced an official alternative to these hacky workarounds: the ability for verified profiles to insert links in their Instagram Stories.Almost a month after the launch, 15% to 25% of the people who see a link in an Instagram Story are swiping on it, according to a handful of brands and publishers that h…
