How To Connect To Nestify Hosting via FTPS Using FileZilla

Connect to Nestify Hosting via FTPS using Filezilla

If you are on self-hosted WordPress, chances are you are using an FTP client to make certain changes.

If you aren’t, you will be using it soon. In order to connect with your server, you need to use an FTP client & one of the most popular ones is FileZilla.

When it comes to connecting to your server, the two most common protocols are:

  • FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
  • SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol)

I have used both of them multiple times in the last 7 years, but today I got to know about a new protocol which I had never heard of before.

Recently I migrated one of my blogs ( from SiteGround to Nestify.

Nestify is a powerful hosting platform & a great solution for those who are looking to get reliable hosting for an affordable price.

When I was trying to connect to my new server @Nestify using FTP/SFTP, it gave me the following error:

  • “Received unexpected end-of-file from SFTP server”.

Received unexpected end-of-file from SFTP serve

Nestify support team told me to connect using FTPS (FTP-SSL) mode instead of SFTP.

How to configure FileZilla for connecting to a server using FTPS

If you would like to read about the technical difference between FTPS & SFTP, here is an excerpt from a Howtogeek article:

FTPS is FTP with SSL for security. It uses a control channel and opens new connections for the data transfer. As it uses SSL, it requires a certificate.
SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol/Secure File Transfer Protocol) was designed as an extension of SSH to provide file transfer capability, so it usually uses only the SSH port for both data and control. In most SSH server installations you will have SFTP support, but FTPS would need the additional configuration of a supported FTP server.

Alright, let’s move on to the interesting part & connect to the server using FTPS (FTP-SSL).

  • Open FileZilla
  • Go to Site Manager & click on “Add New Site”
  • Enter your details

Two important things you need to keep:

  1. Protocol: FTP – File Transfer Protocol
  2. Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS

using FTPS with FileZilla

That’s it!

Now, click on “Connect” & you will be able to access your server on FTPS mode.

This will be useful when you are on a server like Nestify that requires you to connect using FTPS.

If you have not yet connected to your server using FTP, you should try it now. It’s a fun thing to do!

How to Get SMS Alerts for Gmail via Twitter

How do you get SMS notifications on your mobile phone for important emails in your Gmail? Google doesn’t support text notifications for their email service but Twitter does. If we can figure out a way to connect our Twitter and Gmail accounts, the Gmail notifications can arrive as text on our mobile via Twitter. Let me explain:Twitter allows you to follow any @user via a simple SMS. They provide short codes for all countries (see list) and if you text FOLLOW to this shortcode following by the  username, any tweets from that user will arrive in your phone as text notifications. For instance, if you are in the US, you can tweet FOLLOW labnol to 40404 to get my tweets as text messages. Similarly, users in India can text FOLLOW labnol to 9248948837 to get the tweets via SMS.The short code service of Twitter can act as a Gmail SMS notifier. You create a new Twitter account, set the privacy to private and this account will send a tweet when you get a new email in Gmail. Follow this account …

Another SEO tool drops the word “SEO”

Majestic, the link intelligence database that many SEOs have come to use on a daily basis, has dropped the “SEO” from it’s brand and from its domain name, to become Since most people won’t have used Google’s site migration tool before, here’s what it looks like once you press the “go” button:

In actual fact – there’s a minor bug in the tool. The address change is to the https version of (which GWT makes us register as a separate site) but that message incorrectly omits that. Fortunately, elsewhere in GWT its clear the omission is on Google’s side, not a typo from the SEO. It is most likely that the migration tool was developed before the need for Google to have separate verification codes for http and https versions of the site.
