Pinterest Shopping Ads now out of testing, available to hundreds of advertisers

Now that Pinterest has moved its Shopping Ads out of testing, the program is available to hundreds of advertisers.Pinterest’s Shopping Ads, launched last year, were first used by a limited number of major brands, including Ulta Beauty, Venus, Overstock, Lowe’s, eBay, Wayfair and IKEA Canada. The ad product allows advertisers to create ads automatically on the platform by pulling images from their product feeds.“With Shopping Ads, businesses can seamlessly turn their product catalog into visual, actionable ads,” writes Shounak Simlai on the Pinterest Business Blog. “Since Shopping Ads pull automatically from an existing product feed, they’re especially useful for brands that want to scale their Pinterest advertising.”In addition to offering its Shopping Ads to more businesses, Pinterest says it is testing new ad designs aimed at prompting “more visual shopping cues” and expanding its Shop the Look program (an ad product for fashion and home decor brands that allows users to shop direct…

Google launches cost-per-sale Shopping Actions, unified shopping program across Search, Assistant & Express

Google has been working on retail challenges for some time. The problems: (1) how to make mobile shopping from its properties like Search faster; (2) how to maintain market share for product search in a splintering mobile landscape of apps and digital assistants; and (3) how to compete against Amazon, the number one threat to product search originating on Google. All of which relate to how to make more money from product searches.On Monday, Google announced a sweeping new effort called Shopping Actions that builds on current programs and spans its product search, mobile shopping, cross-device transactions and voice search initiatives. Instagram expands shoppable organic posts to 8 more countries

Last year, Instagram launched shoppable organic posts for businesses in the US, giving brands the ability to add e-commerce links within their Instagram organic posts. Users can purchase without leaving the app.Today, the Facebook-owned photo and video app is expanding its shoppable experience for brands to eight more countries: the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Canada and Spain.“With easy access to pricing and product details, shoppers can tap on a tagged post within their feeds or through the shop button on a business’s profile to take the next steps to learn more,” says Instagram.According to the company, about half of its daily active users in the US follow a shopping business account, and more than 200 million users visit one or more Instagram business profiles daily. Google Play Instant lets app marketers offer game trials for free on Android devices

Google has redesigned its Google Play Games app and added a new Google Play Instant feature on Android devices that lets marketers offer trials of their games without users having to download them first.“With Google Play Instant, you can just tap and try a game without having to download it first,” says Google in an announcement on the Google Keyword Blog.Google says Google Play Instant will be available in the Play Store, the Google Play Games app “or wherever game links are shared,” but only for a handful of games to start. More games will be available in Google Play Instant later this year.As part of the redesign, the Google Play Games app is also getting an “Arcade” tab where it will display game-related video trailers, news and YouTube videos. “You can check out game video trailers or use tags like ‘New’ or ‘Action’ to find a particular type of game,” says Google.Google reports the number of Android users who have installed a game has more than doubled during the last year.Last w…
