YouTube to end Director onsite services on October 31

YouTube is retiring its Director onsite services as of October 31 and has stopped accepting any new video ad production projects.First launched in June 2015, the video creation service offered by YouTube was expanded to more than 170 US cities in March of this year. Through the Director onsite program, companies that committed to spending at least $350 on YouTube via Google AdWords would have access to professionals who would script, shoot and edit a 30-second video ad at no charge to the advertiser.A YouTube spokesperson sent the following statement on the decision to end the service:We care deeply about helping all businesses create and share their stories with the world on YouTube, and we are working hard to build scalable solutions to continue helping them do that.”Thomas Tourville, a digital marketing specialist at RevolutionParts, first alerted Marketing Land to the notice on YouTube’s Director onsite page that the service is no longer taking on new projects. Facebook is combining website, app, offline purchase data into one view for advertisers

Facebook will no longer breakout conversion cost metrics by website, app and offline channels. Instead it will aggregate cost reporting across the channels. As part of this measurement update, Facebook announced it is adding to the list of actions advertisers can track across their websites, apps and offline channels.Website, app and offline cost metrics now a single data pointPreviously, advertisers had three separate data points to analyze cost metrics by channel. Twitter adds audio-only broadcasting for iOS app, Periscope

Twitter unveiled a new audio-only broadcast feature for users of its platform and Periscope on Friday.Periscope engineer Richard Plom explained in a blog post that users had been requesting an option to broadcast without having to show their surroundings. The update also comes at a time when audio podcasts are becoming more popular as a medium for both broadcasters and marketers.Now, in addition to “Go Live,” there is an option to click “Enable Audio Broadcast Only.” After recording an audio broadcast, users can choose to share, save or delete it.Sometimes you just want to talk, without being on camera.
