Top tech firms call for pro-business updates to federal data privacy laws

The Internet Association (IA) — a trade group representing major internet firms such as Facebook, Amazon and Alphabet/Google — called for updates to federal data privacy legislation on Tuesday. Updates at the federal level could potentially overide the newly passed California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).More than 40 top tech firms are members of the IA.The IA is calling for data handling laws that include the principles of transparency, controls, access, correction, deletion and portability.  It is also asking policymakers to consider several items while crafting a federal law:Fostering privacy and security innovationNational data breach notification lawTechnology and sector neutralityPerformance standard-based approachRisk-based frameworkModern and consistent national framework for individuals and companiesThe CCPA is scheduled to go into effect January 1, 2020. Dun & Bradstreet report: Despite buzz, only one-third of B2B businesses are committed to an ABM strategy

In recent years, account-based marketing (ABM) has been touted as an effective B2B strategy. According to the Information Technology Services Marketing Association, 69 percent of organizations that implement ABM see improved annual revenue per account.But despite its promise, less than half (38 percent) of the 250 US businesses surveyed for Dun & Bradstreet’s Sixth Annual B2B Marketing Data Report say that ABM is part of its go-to-market strategy.The survey found that only 6 percent of companies planned to implement an ABM strategy within the next six months, 12 percent within the next 12 months, and 41 percent were not sure. That leaves almost half (41 percent) with no plans to implement ABM at all.The reason for the lack of enthusiasm for the tactic? Facebook’s Dynamic Ads, Collection Ads are getting a pre-holiday touch up

New overlays are rolling out for dynamic ads. In advance of the holiday season, Facebook is rolling out a number of new features designed to help advertisers customize their ad campaigns.The updates include an expanded set of customizable overlays for dynamic ads, holiday specific templates and stickers available in the video creation kit and new features for Facebook’s Collection ad unit.Here’s a quick overview of the latest updates:New overlays for dynamic adsFacebook’s dynamic ads, which allow advertisers to retarget users that have visited their sites, already come with overlays to highlight product prices or discounts. Salesforce adds process improvements to Sales Cloud, Einstein AI to Pardot

Salesforce has updated its Sales Cloud to provide what the company said is a more integrated process, plus it has added its Einstein AI to its B2B marketing platform, Pardot.In the spring of last year, the company introduced High Velocity Sales, which offered several new features to help salespeople close deals faster. Several of the enhancements introduced Thursday are intended to build out the unified processes begun with High Velocity.SVP of Sales Cloud Product Management Will Moxley pointed out in an interview that many new sales reps are right out of college, so the new Sales Cadences allow a manager to specify the exact process sequence to her team — such as calling a prospect within 24 hours of identification, and then following up with an email and attached brochure.The new Work Queues turn the Cadences into a prioritized email and call list, defining a sequence of steps that the sales rep can take to follow the Cadences.[Read the full article on MarTech Today.]The post Salesf…

HubSpot adds on-board video capability with Vidyard integration

Inbound marketing and sales platform HubSpot introduced a native video function to its platform last week, through an integration with business video platform Vidyard.The new capability, which highlights the growing importance of video in business, operates inside the HubSpot dashboard for marketing, sales or service, Vidyard co-founder and CEO Michael Litt said. Previously, HubSpot users needed to embed a video created with external tools.Marketers can now upload an externally produced video and then publish it to a branded landing page hosted on the HubSpot platform.
