Time spent on Facebook, Snapchat remains flat, but Instagram sees growth

Source: eMarketer eMarketer reports the average amount of time people will spend each day on Facebook this year will remain unchanged from last year at 38-minutes. That number is expected to drop to 37-minutes per day by next year. This is a downgrade from the figures eMarketer released during the third quarter of 2018.“Facebook’s continued loss of younger adult users, along with its focus on downranking clickbait posts and videos in favor of those that create ‘time well spent,’ resulted in less daily time spent on the platform in 2018 than we had previously expected,” said eMarketer principal analyst Debra Aho Williamson.Facebook and Snapchat usage hits a plateau. After dropping from 41-minutes per day in 2017 to 38-minutest per day in 2018, the average amount of time spent on Facebook has flattened for now. The average amount of time spent on Snapchat has also plateaued according to eMarketer’s forecasts, with adult users projected to spend 26-minutes per day on the app through 2021.…

How to maximize social media traffic to your site

How good exactly is social media at generating referral traffic? Let’s look at the facts. As of 2019, there are 4.39 billion Internet users in the world.Facebook, the social media giant, has 2.32 billion — over half of that. There are five more platforms with over a billion users (YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat, Instagram). While Google is still the best at directing visitors to sites, you can’t look at those numbers without being impressed. Turning to social media for extra traffic is a very worthy investment — if you play your cards right.Arguably, it’s easier than trying to rank in Google since you’ve already done most of your work elsewhere — namely, on your own website. That doesn’t mean it’s a total walk in the park, especially if you aren’t already a big and famous brand. But if others do it, and you want to do it too, why run from the challenge? So let’s go through the hows of getting as much social media traffic as humanly possible.Stage 1: Prepare your social medi…
